Why not put the BRT ROW on the east side of 14th st? You won't need an interchange at 90th. The movement onto Heritage can be synced with traffic so that BRT traffic (both left turning and straight thru) would be permitted when 14th flows straight thru.

Drawbacks would be at Southland. It would require crossing all lanes of traffic. But if you put the line on the south side of Southland then it will be easier at 24th to keep it on the east side as it would not have to cross any traffic lanes.

Also, it would give easier access to the dam if it's on the east side. The traffic NB 14th to EB Glenmore would have to be dealt with though.

Ah well, on the bright side it didn't happen when it was -20 outside.

I walked on to the Centre Street station to utter silence at 3:50 pm, and could hear announcements coming from City Hall station, but nothing at Centre Street. Some passer buy then mentioned the trains were screwed, and that is when I saw the fire truck, so I hotfooted down to City Hall and managed luckily to get on the outbound NE train.

Oddly though, the announcement was something like, To depart Southbound, go to City Hall station. To Depart Northbound, Go To City Hall station. There were many confused and angry people on the wrong platform. And one crazy nut on the car, but CT can't reallty do much about that. Still, seems a weekly occurance that there is some sort of upset on the line lately.

I'm really hoping this is just a string of bad luck and not the future of LRT service. Imagine if we take the past summer and tack on a brutally cold winter, with switches freezing etc. The public will be out for blood.

I have absolutely no idea where to start, but perhaps someone needs to think of how to deal with 7th Ave better. Jumpers and gas leaks and falling building debris are completely out of CT's control, yet they sure make the system look bad. Maybe some sort of backup plan/redundancy should be looked at. Stranding tens of thousands of people at a time isn't a viable option, not when it happens this many times in a year.

At least they arent stuck in a car in rush hour! They can go for a beer to calm them down.

Does anyone know when they started the southbound bus lanes in the shoulders on Crowchild? I noticed them last week for the first time, and they worked great. There was pretty heavy traffic as early as 26th avenue, and we flew down Crowchild. They do seem a little narrow though.

They did it a few weeks ago. They are kind of narrow, but usually not too bad. They go from around 17th ave all the way to Flanders Ave on the southbound side I noticed, and similar on the northbound. CPS has been pulling people over for driving in them on the northbound side around 26th a few afternoons that I've driven past.

Yup, I have seen police on the northbound side around the curve just before 17th pulling people over. Good thing too.

I think the bus lanes are a great idea for that road, especially northbound as it gets stuffed up approaching the river, but the southbound is a great idea too. I wonder why the southbound took so much longer to implement.

These are the kind of things I hope the city can do more of. Looking for the smaller, incremental improvements that don't need a huge budget and a lot of infrastructure to accomplish, but with a great result.

There are so many of these I cannot begin to count them. In some cases, we can make bus lanes using existing shoulders. In others, we can just get some paint, some jersey barriers and away we go!

We really haven't had many maps/images, humourous or otherwise, posted in here lately...

And bus lanes on Crowchild seems like progress. Especially if it will be running BRT in a year, as the WLRT bus route map shows.
