Thanks indeed for the pics Carlos for showing us what's going on up in here with 1WTC! I have a question for anyone who could answer, when exactly will 1wtc be actually topped out officially, when they reach the flat roof or after they install the parapet? Just curious.

Interesting question, they'll top out once they reach the final perimeter columns, which are ~1368' above main lobby floor, the final floor slab (105th-roof) should come after.

According to the PANYNJ website the tower's steel frame is scheduled to "top out" in late 2011/early 2012, meaning the steel frame will reach the top of the building.

I should point this out - rather than post the actual thread topic on every page, I'm taking a different tactic. If you don't feel your post is directly related to the topic at hand, don't post. BTW, that doesn't mean posting an off topic remark with the obligatory Freedom Tower / 1 WTC comment. The private message function (PM) is always available.

I'm not trying to start the old vs new topic again, but one must be an idiot of many proportions to say the new WTC will look better in the skyline than the old one. Skyline: Old>New Street level: Old<New

The problem with comments like this is that the new WTC isn't even close to being finished. Try to withold judgement until the day Carlos captures the black silhouette of the new WTC against a red sunset.

yeah, it's beyond me how anyone can already judge the new WTC against the old one. Even when 1 and 4WTC are eventually finished, we'll have to wait till towers 2 and 3 are done, because only then we can make a final judgement call.

EDIT: also some people are forgetting how much the massive towers such as 7WTC, GS, Beekman, Barclay etc. have improved the lower manhattan skyline. just take look and compare some skyline shots pre - and post 9/11...

Oh god, please don't post pictures of the twin towers... it pains me to think how much better they were. I'm trying hard enough to like the new WTC.
