Winnipeg's Polo Park Stadium Redevelopment looks impressive. And Vancouver's got a solid wave of office projects on the way, nice!

I'm pretty sure I read that on the Vancouver's Turn 2.5 page in the downtown Vancouver Forum.

They aren't changing the design as far as I know, they are just changing what the building will be used for I think. It will still include residential, probably the hotel too.

Decent phase 2 of a social housing project just east of the downtown.

Phase 1 is currently U/C

The glass at the base looks good, the rest of it well...

it looks like a social housing project.

^sure but when the majority of the market condos look like this.... i'd take social housing design any day of the week.

Construction of the following project is set to begin next month. I know it isn't original in any way... after all it is built by a Montreal promoter specialized in senior's residences!! However, it will at least be built on a parking lot not too far from downtown and will contain several businesses including a grocery store, which was greatly needed in that part of town... Also, this project, with many others now under construction, seems to ciment the fact "higher" constructions are now more easily accepted in Quebec City.

P.S. The name of the project is Le Gibraltar in honor of Charles Dickens, who named Quebec City the "Gibraltar of America" when he came to Canada.

That's a pretty sharp looking midrise condo. I'm liking the general proportions and combination of materials.

Couldn't be a more suitable location. The general dense urbanity of downtown thins out pretty quickly right at that block.

I totally agree, well said. The eastern fringe of downtown right now has potential but is rather inconsistent. Infill projects like this (among many others) will gradually improve the urbanity in these areas.

I don't know about inconsistent. Sure it isn't at the rapid pace of some areas, but there has been continual change in the area for the past decade. IMO, it is a much better area to live than its counterpart west of downtown in the Entertainment district. Same goes for the height at scale of buildings. Much more akin to better urban place making.

Yes, the "lower east side" is very nice and has a great urban mix of historical and contemporary buildings. However, I was referring more to the fringe areas just north of the St. Lawrence area. There's tons of parking/empty lots and incomplete streetscape in the area around Queen/Dundas East. But the eastside is gradually shedding its shady image and is gentrifying quickly.

Great find UD, Picasso looks stunning. I'm glad Monarch/Goldman stayed with Teeple for their design.
