Okay, so four questions. I just rode the new rocket. I was impressed. Will it only run on the YUS line? Will it replace all trains on that line? Will all the narrow door trains be gone at the end?

Yes the new Rocket Trains will replace all trains on the Yonge University line. YUS
All the narrow door trains are headed to Africa, so unless the planned order delay goes through at City Hall, you won't see them here again.

Strictly Rockets and T1's on all subway lines. H4's and H5's will be in Nigeria on their new rapid transit line.

No, but it will have a much better ventilation system to bring in cool air from the tunnels.

Yes and No. Yes, Sam Katz (mayor) and Council approved LRT (tram-style), but No because our Provincial Government doenst like the switch from BRT and Katz decided to use the money from Ottawa on roads...

If you'd like to see how it is so far, look in our Winnipeg Transit thread. One of the main stations is getting its roof built! We also got a route plan somewhere on http://www.winnipegtransit.ca

Since when did Rob Ford become premier of Manitoba? Ok in all seriousness Kitchener just got approval for their LRT, and so did Ottawa, which will be partially underground. WTF?

Anyways, I'm assuming there is a negative stigma with Public Transit more so than in Ontario. Only poor people ride public transit. In Toronto really, really rich people ride the subways so it's not that bad here. Your boy David Thomson, and his dad Kenneth were big subway riders in Toronto.

Ouch. That's, too bad, because they should help to alleviate a great deal of rush hour pressure.

I don't really blame the province. At this economic time, we definitely don't have money for LRT or even BRT. We aren't going to be able to afford LRT for......well, I don't know how long.

That's the thing, infact in hard economic times is when government should be making infrastructure improvements. Applies to both Manitoba and Ontario, so the provincial economy can deal with future growth.

That's true, but this hard economic time, the one upcoming, is caused by government spending, so we have to be careful what we do here. I would love LRT in Winnipeg, but I don't expect to see it.

^ It's actually even worst in the winter, the metro feels like a sauna with your winter jacket on.

We need Naheed Nenshi as mayor, and Hugh McFayden as Premier. Problem solved!

While were at it, Gary Doer as Prime Minister

Trens Québec Monorail

Here a very cool proposal for Southern Québec. The video is in French*, but... you can still look at the pictures and the map!

*well, actually, I wouldn't really consider this as being French language (''Frrrrrrrrench'' may be more appropriate).

Video Link

Regarding the Frrrrrrrench in that video: Is that kind of a generational way of speaking? It seems that a lot of older (usually more blue collar) Quebecers speak like that (kind of rolling their R's)... I'm not sure I've ever heard anyone under 50 speak like that.

Some words are just pronouced in a very unnatural manner so my bet is he's not a native French speaker. Or maybe he's Acadian.
