Wow STR. You can compare it to the old observation deck pictures from the South Tower of the original WTC and really see the difference on our skyline in your (STR) renderings by 2020. In just 30 years our city will look good once again.

What? Right now the city is its best looking since the pre-war era. If you're talking strictly skyline, then I think the completion of the new WTC will bring the city right back to where it was before 9/11.

But really, never in history has there been a time when NYC didn't look beautiful.

No, if you look at the shape of the building the final height is predetermined by where the angles meet at the top in the corners. There would be no graceful way to add height at this point.

This building is going to dwarf everything, it's so great

Even ESB won't look that big by it's side.

so next floors are 81 and 82?

Floors 83 and 84 are next, 81 and 82 are being constructed as we speak. New steel should happen sometime later this week if the weather holds up.

I still think Tower Verre looks like it is giving downtown the finger from this angle.. Also, lets hope some of those supertalls get release more design elements soon, because the big giant boxes are ruining the skyline in your model.

Yea but, it's the exact same height of a building that did have 110 floors, it's just about how big the floors are... as long as it's skyline impact is the same, I don't think it's a big deal.

What I don't understand is why people are taking floor count so seriously. There are 40 floor buildings in the 700+ ft. range. There are 70 floor buildings as short as 600 ft. The final height is what you should be focusing on because that number is real. Floor count has never been consistent or reliable, as demonstrated by the ESB.

exactly. there are even supertall buildings (roof height) as the Kingdom Centre with only 42 stories, and in Atlanta f.e. the Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel with 73(!) floors and a height of 723ft.

nowadays , you just can't judge a building on how many floors it has anymore...

Excuse me, but if the number of the floores isn't so important, what is the reason why the owners of the 1 WTC say that there are 108 floores, when in reality these are only 82 ? And why in 2001, when was built the Trump World Tower and Trump said that that tower had 90 floores, everybody ( RIGHTLY ) said that it wasn't true and that the real floores were only 72 ? What is the difference between these 2 buildings ? I think that it is simply necessary to respect the reality !!!

Well some floors are mechanical so some people won't count them, and others are occupied by structural elements of the building but they aren't counted either by some people, but they are still floors so they are worthy of being deemed counted.
