I thought you Canadians (well, besides the Québécois) were supposed to be so polite, but maybe the Newfies (ruh-roh! I said the n-word) are just as salty as their waters.

Meh, I call 'em Newfies too, just usually not to their face. It's not that hard for me, since I talk with very few locals. Everyone I've met here, or at least my friends, are 'from away'.

Is it considered derogatory? When I was in Newfoundland a while back the locals seemed to like calling themselves that.

Yeah, my friend from Toronto corrects me all the time. Though, at this point she's pretty much a Newfie herself.

newfie is kinda like "nigger" i guess

I didn't even notice he said mainlander.

The lights on the Starbucks sign by the mall are partially burnt out. One side says "bucks Coffee", and the other side says "Starbucks Fee". Hmmmmmmmmm????????

HA! I still remember, years ago, a local Mister Donut franchise had a faulty neon sign, one side said Mis Do the other side was ter nut. It was like that for so long that everybody started calling it Misdo ternut........we're easily amused around here.

My roommate left the door open last night. Not unlocked, open. My D40 is the only thing that's gone.

I'd sit him down, have a man to man talk with him about the dangers of leaving the door open, have him promise not to do it again.....then bash him over the head with a mallet and drown him.

.....Or at least have him pay for it.

No, he's just a huge stoner. He offered to help me pay for a new camera, but we're both broke so it looks like I'll be shooting a lot of 35mm for a while.

I walked up to the Chinese restaurant at 1am to get spring rolls. It was very Hong Kong; go down the alley, through the back door, into a kitchen you'd rather not think about, and almost no English was spoken.

Good spring rolls though. They were worth it.

Vid, from what you tell us I'm guessing there's a lot of things you do that requires going down alleys and through the back door.
