11th and Albert

They are delivering large steel beams to the 11th and Albert site as I type.

Centre Square Place will definitely have a tower crane, but I am wondering about 11th and Albert. It is only 4 floors and I thought I read that it would be mostly wood frame construction.

Well since I have to go to the hospital next week for my Remicade infusion, I'll try and see if I swing by to take a few shots

Lot's of activity downtown again this morning.
  • Pouring the 9th (counting Mezz) floor of Tower 3;
  • they apppear to be installing the overhead portion of the twinkle plaza at Scarth and 12th - scaffolding is being erected and new, long benches are being installed;
  • Prep work starting at 11th and Albert and work continues next door replacing the exterior of the low rise office building;
  • New left hand turn lane being installed at Broad and 12th.
There is proabably more going on, but htat is what I have seen this morning,

Groundwork has started at the site of the Regina West Bypass (RWB) and Hwy #1 interchange, embankments are being created until the ground freezes over.

I was just in your fine city visiting family and friends. Lots of projects on the go and lots of traffic as well, especially on the #1 coming into Regina from Fort Qu'appelle. I really hope that a new east bypass is on the provinces radar and I mean a 5 year radar because it's ridiculous to have all the westbound traffic having to filter thru that mess of lights and semis on vic avenue and it's only going to get much worse. Nice to see the west bypass being built in the meantime.

I completely agree. That end of the city is completely conjested during peak (and regular) hours of the day. It doesn't help how the city decided to go ahead with vic east with no design/planning principles. I hope to see a bypass to diverge the traffic through to the highway 1 (westbound) in the near future, as the east end is constantly expanding (or sprawling..).

I remember a while back the city was planning to expand prince of wales through to wascana parkway in the south end. As a short term plan, the city should think about doing this to relieve the vic ave congestion, as those passing by regina could just use the wascana parkway bypass to exit onto the highway 1.

During contruction of the Vic/Ring Road interchange a few years ago there was a problem with semis trying to use PoW and Assiniboine to bypass the construction. It was not cool having semis coming through residential areas.

I believe the City would like to have the PoW extension to Wascana Pkwy completed by 2020. They will definitely have to ban semis or it will be a mess.

Road plan:

Maybe they are going to turn the Plains into a Museum, they could have an asbestos exhibit, and a tour through Good Time Charlies! It could be Regina's newest tourist attraction!

Seriously though, maybe they'll be kicking of the demolition, although I seem to recall they did that once already with some fake bricks on the side of the hotel!!
