I had a double scoop chocolate peanut-butter waffle cone from Shaw's. I went around 9pm and there were still hundreds of people wandering around.

Yeah I was there on Saturday night.

Had a fajita from some Latino place then finished up with a Belgian Waffle. Good times.

^Sweet! Now all we need is for someone to do some drawings of the Old East projects.

And we're also missing the Harrison, but does anyone actually want it included? (Well if the courthouse is there, why not? )

I think we're missing some other stuff too.

AMdeCB-Worst's tickle-trunk

So what is the deal with Mr. Timothy worst? DUI, reckless endangerment, damages to two cars, evading police....and he only spends a fucking week in jail?

Thank God they let him out to run his shitty bar and loansharking/poodle-grooming emporium.

I am dressing up as AMdeCB-Worst for Halloween.

I didn't go, but it seemed to me like it was just an excuse for the vendors to cram one more festival in before the summer was out. That's immediatly what I thought when I heard of a new festival without a discernible theme. I may be wrong though.

What about the Western Fair? Anyone going? I think I will. Does anyone know what this "Western Fair District" is? Last I checked, a horse track, slots, a sports complex, and a soon to be demolished IMAX theatre surrounded by a sea of parking (when the fair is off), is hardly what I would refer to as a district!

Finally, what happened to Lovelondon? We had a good thing going there for a while, but now it's just dead.

Western Fair's whole "district" branding thing is kind of a joke. I agree that a handful of big buildings and a bunch of parking does not a district make. I seriously dislike how much land is devoted to parking at the fairgrounds. They're already talking about demolishing seven houses on Rectory and two on King (houses that are actually fairly handsome, just neglected) to expand their King/Ontario lot. Now they're also considering tearing down the old IMAX for more parking. Will this thirst for more surface lots ever be quenched, or will they just continue to devour nearby areas?

And I've kinda shied away from posting at Love London since I found myself basically just copy-pasting my posts back and forth between SSP and LL. One of the reasons I left Skyscraper City in favour of SSP was because I didn't like how London forumers were being fragmented between two sites. We barely have enough people to keep one forum active, let alone two. Plus I like how people from different cities occasionally chime in on topics here. That never seemed to happen on Love London.

What, isn't OLG slots at Western Fair just your place for a "mini-vacation"?

Shoving quarters into a one-armed bandit and watching fruit whirl is somebody's idea of a "mini-vacation"????

This is what Ontario Lottery corp would have you believe.

But then, they are the folks behind: "Happiness is playing Bingo!"

Great post from here: http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showpost.php?p=5430439&postcount=21

"London ON, a city of around 400,000 feels like a town of 50,000 or less. Nothing ever happens here, it's just a stop between Detroit and Toronto. UWO is the only thing that differentiates London from neighbouring St. Thomas. Contrast London with Halifax: major port, tourist city, bars stay open late, capital of Nova Scotia.. perhaps the Maritimes. Same population, ones a dud, the other is a really cool city."

True or false?

True. Everyone across Canada knows about Halifax, but if you go outside Ontario, a lot of people either don't know there's a London in Canada, or if they do, they think it's a small town. I know from when I spent a week in the Maritimes, most of the locals I talked to didn't even know there was a London in Canada.

More than anything, I blame the lack of national media presence in London.

Well here's our chance to make an impression.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Figure_Skating_Championships

Read the list of host cities for the world figure skating championships. Which one doesn't fit! Someone just showed this to me recently, and I was quite surprised. I didn't realize how big a deal this is going to be, it could be the most important thing to ever come to London!

Man, I was just about to preview a long post in the London vs. Taranna thread, and then I found out it was closed!

Anyways, I was just complaining about pedestrians who waltz across the road at a random point, right in front of a car, with full knowledge that it would hit them, and expect the driver to slow down for them!
And it aint old granny's that I see doing this.

Have you guys heard "London is the City of Opportunity" yet?
Here's the story:
http://www.lfpress.com/news/london/2012/.../news/london/2012/01/12/pf-19237356.html

What a horrible idea, creating a song for the sole purpose of promotion, and pretending that everything is just swell in the city of opportunity!
