I've never even seen a nun. At least not that I can recall.

The Catholic school board in my city is now larger than the public one. Like in Toronto, it is used by middle class whites to avoid ethnic minorities, who attend the public system.

Truth be told, my own personal experiences with nuns were limited to the surly, old crabs at my church when I was growing up. It seemed to my young mind they really hated life on this earth. Many old priests I remember were very much the same way. Much of my impressions of nuns come from my parents generation..... hearing stories of kids getting beaten with rubber hoses for writing with their left hand. High school girls called wores in front of the class (by nuns) for wearing nail polish. Students getting slapped across the mouth with hands or rulers for correcting a nun when she was clearly wrong. That's one big reason I went to public school (even though my teachers were almost as bad). It seems like things weren't a whole lot better in my generation, my sister-in-law (who's as quiet and polite as can be) was pushed backwards down the stairs because she went up the wrong side and slapped more than once for asking questions the nun couldn't answer.
I'm guessing you don't hear stories like this any more simply because the Catholic church was forced to change it's image due to people leaving that church in record numbers.

Now they weren't ALL that bad back then but the bad ones certainly overpowered the nice ones.

When I read that, my dirty, haven't-mastubated-in-3-days mind instantly thought of some horrible, lesbian nun S+M session where the mean nuns overpowered the weaker nice nuns with ... yeah, I'll leave it there. That should be enough TMI for the week.

And you've been around here how long? He wouldn't be vid if he wasn't bereft of a proper and effective mental filter, though, the his post above is actually an improvement.

There's a neighbourhood in Windsor that has a rapidly growing Islamic population but some of them attend the Catholic school just because they live closer to it than the public school.

It's pretty backwards that the government is so biased toward one religion but that's Ontario for ya. We were the last jurisdiction to have Grade 13 and we'll be the last ones to fund Catholic education.

My boss thought that me wearing a blue sweater with a pattern on it was surprising. He'd shit a fucking brick if he ever saw what I post here.

Well, I've had the pleasure of working from home for the last month and a half
(Best. Thing. Ever!). I've got to go back into the office starting later this week, but the good thing is no more 80-100 hour work weeks Needless to say, I've gained a few pounds and have been an absolute asshole to people.

This upcoming Sunday will be my first day off in two months!

My boss isn't an idiot, she just likes reminding me constantly that I'm her subordinate. I also make a pretty good scapegoat.
