Hope this was not already linked:

Panorama of the whole site from multiple view points (it looks fairly recent and quite spectacular)

All they need is a single extra column on the next floor to make it. Shouldn't be too hard to do.

It is going to rain all week here in NY. Progress is not looking good for the 10th anniversary and the 1000 ft mark. 1 column IMO does not make it a 1000 ft tower.

BTW those are Ospreys

If you look at the last picture of 1WTC. The top of the cranes are a good 19 or 20 floors above 1 WTC. 250'

except it really does... you seriously think that 300-400 spires aren't the same exact concept?

No, I don't! A spire is the pinnacle of a building with nothing to come above it. Big difference. I consider a buildings actual height when a majority of the columns have been placed not 1. As I said before just my opinion.

Seeing as the Western construction elevators were only ever going as high as the 40th floor anyway, why aren't they cladding the track above it? They have left a gap for no discernible reason.

^A panel needs to be set in within the below one. If there's no panel below, then you'll have to redesign the piece.

Thanks Otie, very logical... I should have thought of that... They talked about the weather seal and the hockey stick they use to adjust it during installation of the panels on the Discovery special: The Rising.

And I am hoping Mike O'Riley and his partner can get at least one column up before 9/11, so it hits 1000 feet as they so desperately wanted.

Does anyone know if there will be a mass-tuned damper at the top mech. floors?

The tower will never see a 7 point quake. It's much stiffer than quake zone towers, so there's not much point in a damper.
