Hooter's is awful. It's food is over priced with small portions, the atmosphere is tacky and the whole women in tight shirts and booty shorts is just degrading. What a fabulous novelty this will be for Regina...NOT! Does anyone remember the rumour of Red Lobster building a new restaurant as well as Olive Garden building on the old Superstore pad site...I wonder if anything exciting will happen there. It is kind of a lack-lustre development. Here's hoping for something more architecturally pleasing.

Hooter's wings are the best wings from any major chain restaraunt.

I went to Red Lobster about a month ago and the waitress did say something about a reno or new store. She didn't seem to know much though.

Wasn't there also supposed to be a Sheraton Four Points on Superstore pad site???

Regina Urban Ecology has a good post about the 13th Ave Safeway.

I would encourage you to click on the links. They are quite in-depth and offer some interesting suggestions.

City Square Project

The crew is in the home-stretch laying down the paving stones on the plaza. I was through there last night and one thing I'm not clear on is why the stones are being laid east of the Scarth & 12th intersection. The plaza proper runs between Lorne and Scarth. At Lorne and 12th, there's a transition area with curbs and pavement leading into the plaza. A similar arrangement would've worked well at Scarth and 12th too, I think. Instead, it looks like they're going to run the paving stones up to the alley between Scarth and Hamilton.

They are probably leading it through the intersection a little more because the Scarth Street Pedestrian mall is there... and then also that stretch of start is often closed for the farmers' market (I think they are planning for growth so that the farmers' market is eventually in the new Plaza space as well as along Scarth).

I don't think that's what I was remembering (I think what I'm thinking of is quite a bit older), although if anyone has a copy of the Rennaisance plan as well, I would love to check it out.

You are correct the paving stones will go past the Scarth and 12th intersection but not all the way to the alley, I'd estimate about a third of the way between the intersection and alley.

There is some good points in here, I particularly agree about the glass windows and how that helps incorporate the street level activity both inside and outside of the current building, and if the new design takes that away it would be too bad..

They also go south on Scarth almost up to the entrance of the Canada Life Building. I think they have another 2 weeks of work left at the pace they work. They still have to finish the sidewalk area in front of the twins as well.

Tower 3 Webcam

Does anyone know if Harvard Developments has taken their Tower 3 Webcam offline or are they having technical issues? I have not been able to access it this week.

Maybe then our gas price will go down (lol that will never happen )

On another note I sent an email to city hall regarding the planned work on Ring Road (Pasqua to Pinkie).Yesterday one of the city engineers called me back. Although work was to start in May, it will not start until October (mainly prep work) due to the amount of work the contractors have already in the hopper. There is a plan for a bike/walking path along Courtney that will join the Wascana paths with the North End.

I have to commend the city for the personal phone call.

Sorry, are you saying tower 3 is being dropped by 1 floor (I thought it was going to be 20). As for that other tower, I have heard that Harvard wants the same Ledcor team working on tower 3 to move down the street after tower 3 is done and build the 2nd FCC tower as FCC's lease is up in a couple of years and they want all they head office staff back in one building. That timing makes sense as the FCC tower would likely take a couple of years to be built.

What do we know about the new FCC tower? Is this thing real or rumour? Specs?

I don't believe that they have 'dropped' a floor from Tower 3. It was always planned to be this way. According to the renderings from Harvard Developments it clearly shows that the western half of the building (that with the blue curtain wall to match Towers I and II) is to be the same height as those towers but the rest of the tower (the eastern half) is a floor lower.
