Looks like the B&M development just off McPhillips is being sold as condos now. Probably a great choice considering they are being priced under $200,000.

Hopefully they sell quickly. They look fantastic.

Geothermal apartments, townhouses will cost less than $200,000

One of the province's largest geothermal residential developments -- the 19-building Terra Commons rental complex -- is being converted into condominiums.
A spokesmen for the developer, B & M Land Co., confirmed Tuesday the company hopes to convert all 19 buildings -- 340 rental units in all -- into condos over the next 18 months.

That's good news for anyone looking to buy a recently built condo for under $200,000 -- the townhouses will be priced at $184,900 or $199,900 and the apartment-style units at $159,900.

I went to go see one fo the townhouses a few weekends ago. The finishes are really well done for the price point. I had asked the realtor about the half finished apartment style building and he had no clue what the plan was. Nice to see there is a concrete plan to get it all done. It's been sitting half done for years.

I'm looking for a condo in the next year after I get married, but B&M land's involvement doesn't instil much confidence in me.

b&m sold it someone els now if i am not mistaken.......

those buildings got recked 3 owners ago when they renovated them........ who ever the plumber had been installed all the toilits wrong....... and as a result they all leaked and caused a mold hell.... my friend lived there and had the toilit issue corected but the landlord didn't bother checking the other units resulting in this mess

So, is anything new going on in this city? Or are we falling victim to what seems to be a mini Canadian recession (it's funny, Canada and Australia both weathered the last recession well, and now we both appear poised to enter recession)?

The commercial construction industry in Winnipeg is extremely overheated right now so the need for a breath is required every once and a while. There are quite a few projects that are only getting one or no bids at all right now. I would like to note that it is just a quiet time for new announcements, new projects starting next month will be huge.

....and we are not Toronto you know, we don't announce a 40 or 50 storey condo tower every other day here like in TO.

I've only been living in Winnipeg for 5 years, but it seems that "New" construction is getting hotter every year. I think that this city has really got some good things going for it (and maybe a few not-so-good; sprawl) construction-wise. Be patient, and you'll start to see major new projects (Ikea, MTS centre office / hotel, Canad Inns HSC, stadium, etc) rising over the coming 12 months.

I've grown tired of following the big cities... Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary... so what. Winnipeg has so much potential to realize.

well said...where are you originally from Mini?

I also agree there's a ton of activity. It's not Calgary or Edmonton, no, but it's getting the momentum needed to keep chugging forward that those two cities built back in the day and have currently. These next few years are major for the Peg, relatively speaking. It started slower this decade with MTSC and Hydro, but look at what's happening now, and consider by the time these projects are done, there will be more announced or on the horizon. Jmt, what I believe Winnipeg is going through is a slow transition, but one that bodes well for the city in the long term...consider the past few decades (and now) were/are rolling the ball up the hill....

Also 1ajs - again thanks for the updates. The Human Rights Museum is looking good...

The CanadInn at HSC is under construction, and Heritage Landing was proposed last year.
