Why won't they be leaving it where it is? Seems to be in a nice highly visible spot.

Loving the progress. And I'm hoping that the sphere ends up in liberty park or at least somewhere close to the memorial.

Is it possible to put the damaged sphere back to it's original place?? Can they move a few trees to accommodate it?? Or is it where the new memorial building is now standing??

From what I understand it's original place is in the middle of the new section of Greenwich St.

Of course any post now we will all be warned this is off topic... Sheesh! A little leeway once in a while would enhance the thread ... But until then...

...The Sphere cannot be placed in its old, exact, geographic position. That would place it right in the middle of the soon-to-be-re-opened Greenwich Street, right in front of the Transit Hub.

A nice place for it would be nearby, South of the yet-to-be-determined Performing Arts Center.

Actually, it wouldn't. People don't want to (and shouldn't have to) sift through various off topic posts just to get to the relevant posts. It's especially annoying because there's no need for it. Anybody can use PMs for off topic commentary, or simply use the appropriate thread. It's not hard to do.

Well, we don't actually have any idea what the new cladding for the base will be like. We don't even know for sure what what kind of glass or whatever other material they're gonna use... Simply put, there have been no recent renderings to show off the new base cladding. I believe it's still in the works.

You are correct about that. Since the glass can't be brought in we don't know what the base will be covered with, but the lower 5 stories of the base will compose of concrete while the rest will consist of mechanical floors. Well if anyone does want to see this is the original rendering of the base of One WTC.

nice, i actually wouldn't mind seeing it at the utmost south-east corner of the Transportation Hub block, right under the "wing"... that way, it could be sorta like a public art sculpture... but of course people would say that the "wing" will cover it,

nonetheless, i think it's important that this thing should come back to the site where it belongs and was meant to be,
