Another area that I don't think was ever mentioned is the land north of Bishop Grandin, and in between Waverly and Pembina. In terms of flow in and out, if done right, there are plenty of regional roads to handle the capacity. Also, it would be right on the path of the future rapid transit corridor...

While it might be good for available parking space. I don't know if Marion and Archibald are really the best routes to handle the amount of traffic to and from the stadium.

that location was no better really................... the curent stadium works better and coulda been part of a lrt line to the airport agg

Thinking strictly from a rapid transit sense, not sure how you can get much better than the second largest daily commuting destination outside of downtown.

^ it's a gradual commute location. Not a 30,000 in over an hour and out over an hour destination.

The traffic will be a colossal shit show the first few games there before they get things figured out. There are 4-lanes in and out of this place. They all terminate at a light, and at the same street no less. And to make it that much worse, the buses are on the same 4-lanes, so it doesn't matter what you use to get there short of walking or biking, you will be caught in gridlock.

exactly...anyone who has tried to leave after the marathon knows what a bottleneck it causes....and that aint no 35000 people.

it isnt the parking its the access thats the problem....two small roads that terminate in red lights on the same large road.....i really believe it will cause some people not to go to bomber games...people say that we will adapt, but part of that will not be carpooling, it will be staying home.

people complained about MTS Centre but they were idiots...75000 people come to and leave downtown at the same time every day.....that is not the case here.

there are several examples of bad locations for sports facilities having a substantial negative impact on attendance.....sunrise florida, glendale arizona.

it isnt a slam dunk that people will go to games come hell or high water in the long term....die hards will, but the fringe fans that make a franchise successful might not if it is too much hassle.

if it takes an hour to get there, 6:30 weekday starts are going to be tough.

the canada packers site proposal had a direct access to lagimodiere (lower right) from the site as well as several other roads that led away from it in other directions......it was also central in the city.

I've since changed jobs, but the morning commute during the M/W/F 8:30 or 9:30 class time slot would always see University Crescent backed up to Pembina (moreso at the start of the school year (Sep)). Chancellor Matheson was better, but I recall Bison Drive backed up West of Pembina at times. The point being here that there is precedent set for a "rush", and the results speak for themselves (i.e. not good).

Has anyone participated in the Manitoba Marathon? Both University Crescent and Chancellor Matheson are closed to traffic, with Chancellor open only to buses used for the Park and Ride service. The scale is smaller, but it does show success in getting a mass of people at the same general location as that of the new stadium.

There are two immediate ways out of the site (University Crescent and Chancellor Matheson), and then as you go, that becomes 4 (Bison, Pembina South, Pembina North, and Bishop Grandin. There are ways to make everything work. Everyone will get in and out. People will adapt.

Once they build some type of rapid transit corridor to the U of M, I think it would be a good idea to build parkades at each of the major stations along the corridor in order to encourage people to park-and-ride to the stadium.

Also, at some point the university NEEDS to fix that stop sign intersection on University Crescent directly in front of the stadium site. That place is such a hazard right now, I can't even imagine what a nightmare it will be with 35,000 drivers trying to figure it out.

But not in the same place. Once you get to the lights, you have multiple options for where to go.

lets not forget that university crescent and kings dr offer to more exits for car to leave the stadium southbound, that should help funnel a couple thousand
