great shots. 7th and fir really jumped up! just love the scale of these projects in context, for the next little while, at least, they'll stand out, proud and (somewhat) tall, against the surrounding roadway and industrial lowrise. using social housing to shape development by pushing density further along a planned growth corridor: only in vancouver.

Ahh Vancouver, where the projects are the nicest, most interesting buildings in the city. (not a criticism of the government, moreso of the private sector's lack of imagination)

The City of Vancouver recently sought a court injunction against owner George Wolsey, to force him to bring his buildings up to code.

looks like there's 3 or 4 retail spaces at the Pender and Abbott building up for lease. Any idea why these aren't being leased up? or who is planned to go in there?

The city is leasing it, they don't seem to have the best of luck with leasing properties for whatever reason. The location isn't bad but I think there is some hesitation with people waiting to see what will happen with the old budget site kittycorner and to see what comes from the old Lotus/Lick/Honey space.

and the lack of balconies on these buildings makes them stand apart from the average Vancouver condo, in my opinion...
