can someone please takes some pics of the work being done on Camponile?! I noticed this morning that all the green glass is off the 'pointed' roof. Do you know if they're replacing all the glass or just the top?

Perhaps if this building were made of precast beige concrete or faux-brick, it would still be in use. What a beautiful structure.

Hilton Garden Inn Hotel

Drove by the groundbreaking ceromony for the hotel on 10th street today no construction equipment yet but there was a party with live jazz going on. Did the city ask them to change the original building design to cover the parking garage? Is their a new rendering for that? I hope they changed that design!!

I don't have the best vantage point from my place on 13th St, but oh well. Here are two I took yesterday, before I visited this thread. I've been wondering what exactly it is they're doing, and why they're doing it, too.

Street construction? They're replacing water lines under Juniper, because the folks in the buildings on the street are getting very dirty water, and have been for years. Part of Atlanta's legacy of crap sewer/water infrastructure.

Bobby Cox-backed sports complex deal closes

http://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/news/...backed-sports-complex-deal.html?page=all

"The planned development will include 16 tournament baseball fields, 14 lacrosse and soccer fields, a 118,000–square foot indoor sports pavilion for lacrosse, soccer, wrestling, baseball, volleyball, gymnastics and cheerleading.

The developers are also planning more than 1 million square feet of offices, shops and restaurants, and about 1,500 hotel rooms."

It's not quite in Atlanta, but that not that far away either. This should be great for the Cartersville area. Unfortunately it will only add to the region's sprawl.

They are replacing the HVAC and building systems at Campanile, and updating the appearance. This is all necessary to lease up the remaining space at attractive rates because that building is old and in this day and age location is not the only thing that will attract tenants.

Also, it was reported today in Bisnow that the 2.25 acre lot at the corner of Ponce and North is back on the market after a contract just fell through. It is rumored that Sembler is in the running to resubmit a bid.

Funny that they phrase it that way in the article since that would be a funny looking corner made up of parallel streets.

But if something decent is developer there, it, along with maybe finally getting around to developing that former Wachovia-to have been Fox Premiere site, would have a big impact on that neighborhood. Hopefully nothing crazy happens to the Pei Gulf Oil building on Juniper amidst such changes.

They are working today. Great to see heavy equipment turning earth in midtown.....and the Tech BB arena under construction across the connector too.
BTW, Escorpion restaurant in midtown at Peach and 5th is rockin......it is really adding needed life in the area between Spire/Viewpoint/Biersch and the Fox.

I'd also like more information about the new hotel.

Is the parking garage at least going to be better blended than before? What is the building's roof height? Will there be any street level retail on 10th? A hotel restaurant*?

In any case, good to finally see a project move from the "proposed" column to the "construction" column.

*edit: according to the press release, it will have a 110 seat onsite restaurant

Does the Hotel have a website with renderings or at least some info?

Any updates on the Mandarin Hotel or Trump? Are these totally dead or just on hold? I also remember seeing on here that someone bought the lot across from the High. Is something proposed for that spot?

The lot across from the high is supposed to be a condo/hotel tower called museum tower I'm pretty sure. If I'm wrong someone correct me
