I was down there yesterday, but this yellow fence is gone and there are signs up telling you how to get through to the seawall. There is a path of yellow dots on the ground between the builings and signs pointing the way for pedestrians, and blue dots for bicycles, wheelchairs and strollers. They wind their way between the buildings, but you can get from seawall to seawall.

Maybe it was just to make the area more navigable for visitors of SIGGRAPH, but the signs and dots seem to be a permanent solution until the buildings come down.

P.S. after walking between the buildings yesterday, boy, is that area a dump. The city should go down and raze the buildings immediately. The mobiles and containers look even shittier up close and are barely wheelchair accessible. I can't believe people actually run high priced businesses out of them.

They look like squatters, and at this point are acting like them.

Surprised the city hasn't acted against them seeing how their lease has expired a while back. I figured they would've given a 60day grace period to sort things out, but we're well past that now. Wonder why we haven't heard from the Coal Harbour Residents Association.

I agree BCPhil, I was down through there the other day what a dump!!!

The pathway through the dumpy terminal certainly isnt that well marked, especially from the coal harbour side.

It would be interesting to know why they havent moved yet. Everything seemed so public before and now nothing.

I think the Trailer Park will be dismantled sometime after labor day and the expected business slow-down

If the Bellagio at the Convention Centre is the same Bellagio in Gastown, then this is exactly what I have heard many times before: that the food is horrible.

There isn't a Bellaggio in Gastown as far as I know anyways. There is one by the art gallery though.

wow! great news. so demo after than and, what, a couple weeks of construction? so the seawall ought to be set before the winter rains begin to fall?

Looks like Harbour Air/Westcoast air is balking at moving again, the city has extended their lease for one additional month but their Ceo is claiming they can stay until Sept 2012. Should be interesting to see if the COV locks them out, I highly doubt it though. The NDP is trying to score policital points on it now too.
The article is the Sun isn't as good as the one in the Globe and Mail regarding the issue.
Let's see what happens next month.

Jeez, talk about stalling tactics. They are concerned the new location is "in a site less sheltered than Harbour Air’s current base and subject to swells", but is basically the same as Harbour Air's original location at the foot of Burrard from which they were relocated to build the VCC West??

And surely 90% of Harbour Air's passengers are business people who wouldn't flinch at a $12 (each way) ticket increase to leave from a better facility. I wouldn't.

Just move already, and let the trailer park be demo'd and the seawall be completed.

I'm rather displeased over the delays to get the seawall completed. The more this goes on the more I think they deserve a lockout from the City of Vancouver. =S

My sister worked for harbour air, until recently being laid off. She said the guy that owns harbour air was trying to pressure the employees to signing a petition for them not too move. Additionally she added he flies in a private helicopter too work from the sunshine coast. I just find the NDP siding with this a guy a joke. He is just cheap and could obviously cover the extra cost. I say throw them off that property.

I love how they still throw out the $12 figure even though it's been lowered to $9.50 and they also fail to mention the current cost of ~$5 of using the existing site. The difference is closer to $5 each way for a much better facility. Really hope the city does the right thing here and stops any extensions.
