I guess it's silly of me, but it never even crossed my mind that they would already be building the interior on the lower floors.

Awesome!

That's only one of many views (plural in case you didn't catch it). And yes, tower 2 will be in that view.

That shouldn't be a problem. All they need to do is make a very simple circuit with a pc chip or something, program it to turn the lights on and off, just on a large scale. It shouldn't be hard, and to program would take literally 5 minutes. So, I think they are A: just being lazy or B: want to keep t 'simple'.

Is it possible people will already be working in it while construction is still going on at the top floors?

No/Yes. Elevators need to be working and they need access to any floors people will be working on. People will be putting their stuff in their offices and getting them prepared; I'm pretty sure.

It is possible, but not in this project..The site is too complex and construction is going on on all 4 sides..No space for people goin' in and out all day..Not safe too..Plus, the lobby is not even close to be done yet..

Yes, the crane rises itself, that's true..But how, I think I saw something about that, but I'm not sure what exactly..I think that crane hook himself somewhere on the tower and start pulling itself up..It just slides on the rails attached on the tower..

Possible and likely.

BTW, for anyone interested, there is an article at www.tvnewscheck.com that details Durst's efforts to lure the tv broadcasters back to the site and why it may or may not happen.

Awesome!
Very typical with skyscrapers. If elevators and MEP are isolated for different types of uses, then skyscrapers can be partially occupied and functional while under construction. An excellent example of such is Trump Tower in Chicago. The hotel portion opened for business before the skyscraper was topped off.

The vanities in that mcokup washroom look real nice, and no it is not all that unusual at all for the interiors to be completed on oh about the lower third of floors while the bones of the upper floors are still being constructed especially in buildings as tall as this.

What I don't like is that tower 2 will also mostly (or completely) block that view from the observation deck as well.

I know I'll get a slew of reasons why it "Must Be This Way" to this remark and I also know that they are invalid, considering this whole area was a blank slate 10 years ago...

I never understood why they didn't switch where 2WTC and the Hub are going to be. There are several reasons why it would have been better.

1) It would have preserved that view of the Brooklyn Bridge for the 1WTC observation deck.

2) The diagonal stagger of 1WTC and 2WTC (if it were the Hub will be) would better mimic the original staggers of the Twins. Better replicating the classic view from Brooklyn that so many people are upset will not be. Furthermore, 2WTC would not block 1WTC from so many of the "classic" vantage points.

3) The Hub would be in a more pituresque and "Classic" viewline down Fulton Street, with its "Wings" towering over the trees of St.Paul's Chappel.

4) The Hub would not be squeezed between such tall towers. The Hub would be reflected in 1WTC and 2WTC such that when standing at Vesey and Church you would get an almost 360 degree view of its architecture.

5) The placement of 2WTC where the Hub will be still preserves the stepdown effect from 1WTC that so many people seem to crave.

Hey if it's possible at least Philippe Petit can string some sort of wire between the new 1 & 2 WTC and tightrope it. LOL

There's a nice rendering of that as well. Don't know if you ever made it up in the original, but the proximity of the other tower enhanced the view.
