Here's my latest "Fantasy" Rendering for Winnipcoo!

I know a lot of people will hate this, but I used One Detroit Center as the iconic central tower. I think a tower of that style with maybe a bit more modern features would really look incredible on Winnipeg's skyline, and it would also go with the historical significance and look of DT Winni. The second tower is Strata SE1 in London England, just thought it looked pretty nice especially with the clouds in the background.

I replaced the ALT Hotel with a minor tower from Dortmund Germany.

Nice job there Chadilliac, I'm enjoying your stuff - its fresh, as is the imagination and passion

though I must admit, that Detroit Tower is just yucky in that pic.

Looking at where you put those towers though, I wonder where new office towers would go in the Peg? There are other lots downtown, not @ Portage & Main where there isn't much space unless one built further down portage on the other side of the Richardson, that I'd imagine they'd be built. Or, further down Main. Where did you imagine those towers going up? (Seeing as youre from Vancouver, are you familiar with Winnipeg's downtown where the parking lots are?)

Pretty neat looking at a fantasy render of the Peg...and realizing how a 150m+ would just stick out in a strange way in the city

The London tower, is something I like. Strata's a beauty, that's for sure.

Interestingly enough I think wind turbines were in a proposed Hydro office tower that was going to be 170m tall and I think it was proposed to go near P&M too

That building sure is a beauty.

But I also love the current Hydro we have, even though its shorter, its got an entirely different charm.

It was proposed for the Creswin-owned lot just north of the former Canwest Place (is it still named that?).... Just south of Whiskey Dix...

Haha, I knew people would hate the Detroit Center. I just chose it because it was the closest thing to my imagined target. I hardly know anything about Winnipeg's downtown other than that Portage is Winnipeg's version of Yonge Street...

I just used the Portage and Main site because it is already the primary core. to establish a new financial/business core in an already somewhat centralized city wouldn't be good. Nor would it look all that great. It would be great to see a bunch of 80 - 100 meter towers get built around the core to build it up and out, and then two 140 meters close to the existing buildings at portage and main, then one 175 meter tower get built in a position similar to how the Bow is positioned at the eastern edge of Calgary's skyline.

Yeah I have seen that proposal before. I wish it had been constructed instead. It would have been a beautiful icon.

In this era of spell check I don't know how it's possible to make that many spelling errors. It is a legitimate complaint about the front page.

A condo on Waverley would be nicer. It certainly wouldn't be a brick wall on the first floor.

BTW, the Bloc 10 condo at Grant and Niagara is almost done. It could certainly be moved from "proposed" to "under construction."

I love how the angles look. Looks like a hurricane went through the building site....Cant wait to use this facility when it's done. Big things coming out of city park in the next few years!!!!!

I live out of town right now and was at the park for the first time since all the renovations began in july with my girlfriend from ontario. I knew it was going to be something but she was astounded by the kiddie park and gardens. That park is a real gem to the city can't wait for the family centre to open. Anyone know what kind of things will be inside?

I might have an idea.

casual 150 seat restaurant in the front closest to the duck pond...
fireplace lounge in the middle facing the forest to the south....couches and chairs to sit beside a large fireplace....wood floors mad eof the oak trees that came down from the site.
activity room for programmed activities for both kids and adults....pumpkin carving, gingerbread house making at christmas, nature focussed crafts, storytelling, that kind of thing.
event room for things like birthday parties or corporate events....can be rented out.
restaurant and event room open into each other to make a wedding or large event space after hours.
take out window to get picnic food for the park.
outdoor fireplace patio on the south side.
small gallery space...probably for a winnie the pooh exhibit....still to be designed.

noticed the pizza hut downtown is opening as some kind of restaurant and lounge.

eh to aqua book never thought much of it after being dinged 33$ for a small boul of soup and a sandwitch
