There's a corner in the Maritimes without a Tims? That's unpossible!

It will really compliment the Tims at:
-Bayside and Loch Lomond
-Loch Lomond Mall
-Rothesay Avenue
-McAllister Drive
-McAllister Place
-Loch Lomond and Hickey

Though I'm told that this is to replace the drive-thru one at Bayside and Loch Lomond, so strike one from that list.

Tims/Leons

I gotta ask. What you know what for brains at city hall would allow something like this to be built on probably one of the busiest intersections in the city? Knowing full well the hell its putting people through at Loch Lomond and Russel St. It really creates tie-ups at the intersections with lights and all. The latter will be torn down I believe to make room for the new overpass being built there. Good news! It looks like they are starting construction of the new Leons on Rothesay Ave. Right next to the old one. I heard its supposed to be 2 1/2 times the size of the old.

Well, there's not much the City can do since the zoning permits this as-of-right. I do wonder how wise it is though, especially considering (1) the traffic patterns once One Mile House is finished and (2) that there's already a Tims right up the hill. Ideally the access would be made a "right in, right out" to prevent trouble, but there's no way the developer will do that of their own accord.

This link may shed some light on some of the concerns discussed here.

Yup.. Right there. They laid the foundation earlier this week. Should be interesting.

That's the spot. Here's an aerial view:

(From City of Saint John web mapping utility)

It's actually a pretty large parcel. As you can see, two driveways already exist, one ~28m from the intersection, and one ~180m away. Think there's a misquote in the news story or are they putting in a new one?

Hopefully only the furthest driveway is used.

Did you notice where on the lot the foundation is located? Any paving yet?

The foundation was right up against the causeway. I noticed that the construction vehicles are using the driveway closet to the causeway. Hope this doesnt become the actual entrance. But since the store is there I can only assume it will be the main driveway?

Interesting. Hopefully they ditch the 28m access, but it wouldn't be the first time a developer has cut corners in a proposal (literally, in this case! ). If the 80m figure from the article is accurate, that puts the access flush with the Stella Maris driveway across the street. That seems realistic considering probable dimensions of the building/parking lot and the desire to control access.

50 more metres and they could have made the access flush with Park Avenue, which would make it easier to add traffic lights in a worst-case scenario.

Very cool pictures of the new Police HQ! As much as I am not certain about the approved budget, combined with the new courthouse it is going to be an impressive addition to the core.

Sorry.........

I should know better, but it's a normal reflex response. In most municipalities the city core is referred to as downtown. In Moncton, "uptown" refers to the developing commercial node in east end Dieppe.

You say tomAtoes, I say TomAHtoes......let's call the whole thing off!

Irving owns that land, do they not? Or do they only hold up to the railway tracks? Doesn't really matter now that the foundation has already been poured

I like this location for a drive-thru Tim's much more than their current location on Russell Street.

Is the Tim's on Russelll Street closing? Where will all the whores, pimps and drug dealers get their coffee?

What's with the car tunnel leading to the very tiny parking area? Is this primarily for the transport of offenders. Seems like a waste of money doesn't it?

Does anyone know if the new parking garage will somehow be integrated into the pedway system? Is there still talk about possibly adding retail/condo's to the project. Seems like it would make sense.

One more thing. That mural on the wall below the Fortress of Vengeance has had it's day. It's time to hire a professional....

I sort of think that ivan court and norm macfarlane suck because before them, our city could easily make the maps. now we have nothing to do with tourism and it is totally converted to industry!
