10% humidity....I'm surprised people don't spontaneously get mummified just walking down the street there.

Around here we like to be able to drink our air.

as soon as a enter the state of colorado, a blood faucet opens up from my nose, followed by a swarm of texas red tips. my mucus membranes are as thin as barney fifes skin. shit, my nose is tingling just thinking about it.

^Reminds me of my younger brother on yearly summer trips out west long ago. He would loose ungodly amounts of blood. Damn, he almost needed a transfusion by the time we got back home. After 5 children my parents were pretty blasé about his yearly ordeal.

Don't most males lose "ungodly amounts of blood" as children? My nose didn't leak blood often, but my bi-annual trips to the ER were always super-bloody.

Yeah, the high altitude and dry air are prime conditions for nosebleeds (I snorted saline nasal spray like it was cocaine when I first moved here two years ago)

Can't be any worse than winters in Canada. Once it gets below about -20°C, the air can't really hold moisture any more. 90% humidity at -20°C is like 10% humidity at 20°C.

I know a couple people whose skin dries up and cracks and bleeds in winter because of it, but I think that is mostly from exposing it directly to cold air for so long. I always wear gloves, and I've never had a problem with the low humidity in winter other than dry lips.

As a kid I would have nosebleeds, for no reason, in the middle of the night and wake up on a pillow that looked like it came from Sharon Tates house.

And I agree that most males lost ample amounts of blood as boys. Once I lost a tooth when it came in contact with a boxing glove. It wasn't the initial contact that knocked it out, it was when my brother pulled back his arm my tooth got caught in the folds of leather at the side of the glove and he yanked a tooth out that wasn't even loose at the time(good thing it was a baby tooth) We just kept boxing away with my mouth bleeding like crazy getting all over my face and shirt.....well until mom saw us and screamed like a crazy person.

Here's a sexy bunch of Rock Islanders circa 1930. Imagine the smells wafting around this dance hall....

Umm...nice stockings. ^

Well, they were probably rushing back from their activities in the backseat of a Model A Ford...

Someone should tell Mr. Fabulous (literally front and center) that he should not bring his mother to a dance.

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe they all had bad teeth? The guy on the left looks like he's getting ready to cap everyone with the Tommy Gun hidden behind his back.

^^C'mon guys, it's a dance contest. Those Rock Islanders can get mighty testy about things like that. (Just try to knock on rockyi's door for Trick or Treat at Halloween and see what happens.)

Well, the only guy smiling is also: (1) the best dressed (only guy wearing a tux), (2) the only guy who has color coordinated with his date, (3) the only guy not wearing stripes or grey, and (4) the only guy with a handkerchief. Methinks he deserves a better date than Ms. old-fashioned (perhaps older than him) saggy-tits. The two women wearing jackets aren't America's next top models either, but they look like they put out.

That's a great point.

Maybe she put out easier than the others? You go without sex long enough and your prospects become a lot bigger...relatively speaking.
