I really have no idea what these huge plywood on steel beam things are. They have several of them standing up vertically on the 6th floor perimeter.

No those are all in place In he core and are red in colour. These huge plywood things are being placed on the perimeter. They have massive steel beam supports.

I assume that these panels are going to form a temporary wall around the entire floor for worker safety. They will be raised up when they build the next floor. There are brackets attached to the edges of the 5th and 6th floors which these panels will bolt to. There was a flat bed trailer parked in front on the site this evening with a load of steel i-beams and prefab plywood frames that I am sure will be used to construct these larger panels. The lower section of these panels will connect to the brackets on the two floors immediately below. The upper portion that will form the wall cantilevers out a foot or two from the actual floor that they are constructing giving clear and safe access right to the edge.

WOW....amazing shots there guys

Agreed, that paving looks exceptional.

Question somewhat related to the new tower, where are all the people who are going to be moving into that 3rd tower currently working? Are there peripheral offices or something being consolidated?

The major tenant is Mosaic Potash. They have a few employees in an office outside downtown (Transition area, just south) but it will be creating 120 new jobs to Regina. Some of their other office staff are at their mine in Belle Plaine (small Village west of Regina).

There is also a substantial government tenant component and Canadian Western Bank, from what I have heard. I believe Mosaic is only taking 3 floors.

I think they are tables for the twinkle plaza, but I am not 100% on that.

In the NE corner of the park. It will have 600 LEDs. I think they will be overhead.

Ah, thanks for the info there CCF & Stormer.

So is Mosaic the major tenant of the Tower 1 & 2 as well? I'm a little confused I suppose, as to whether this was already work force that existed within Tower 1 & 2 that was expanding hence Tower 3, or if it is an independent project that was built by a company that owns Tower 1 & 2, and is leasing Tower 3's primary office space to Mosaic. Don't know my office towers in Regina too well

No Mosaic has no space in 1 and 2. They have an office in a small building near dowtown and have office workers scattered at their 3 mine sites in Sask. They are also moving jobs from Minneapolis to make this their world Potash HQ.

Not entirely sure where the jobs are coming from but Regina does have the lowest office vacancy rate in Canada which is behind much of the development.
http://www.westerninvestor.com/index.php...o-office-vacancy-spurs-regina-developers
Another factor is that a good chunk of commercial office space was converted to residential condos several years back. The low vacancy rate for class A commercial isn't that surprising. Its not like this is Calgary and there has been continuous commercial development for years - the supply has been shrinking here for years.

Now, if we could only get a fair share of federal jobs that seem to end up in Manitoba - we could fill a world trade centre tower with jobs.

They have opened City Square plaza this morning almost all the way to Scarth although there is a ton of work left to complete. They are setting up for Folk Fest is in the Park and the plaza is supposed to host the food vendors. It would be a good time over the next few days to wander down to get a feel for it.
