The jet in the Jets logo has the same tail as the F-18, pointing away from the engine exhaust thingy, while the F-16's rear tail thingy is flat.

I know lots of aviation terminology!

I think the new logo is one of the better designs in the league, defiantly tops among newer franchises. I like how they found a historical link to give the Jet's name more significants and overall I think the logo looks very dignified and professional.

The only reason anyone would prefer the ugly old logo over this is purely sentiment.

Well said. Agree totally, I love the new logo and already copped some merch! The dark baby blue T's are awesome, as are the navy blue T's!

The old logo was very good. They had the right idea with this one, but I'm not sure about the execution. The leaf seems to swallow up the jet. Part of it is that "silver" isn't an easy colour to convey on a computer screen. Maybe the jet looks less like a grey blob when it's stitched. At least it's not a "scary" jet with teeth holding a hockey stick or something silly like that.

It looks nicer on merchandise cause all the silver is metallic

Agreed on the bolded part

Of all the NHL logos, I personally find the Jets logo to be anywhere from 4th to 6th best.

-Red Wings
-Canadiens
-Penguins

-Devils
-Bruins

Honourable mention to the Rangers, Leafs, Flames and Flyers for keeping it simple, classy and symbolic. Also, I admittedly secretly like the Duck foot "D", but it is not an iconic logo by any stretch of the imagination. The Los Angeles Kings used to have one of the best logos in professional sports when they adopted the Raiders silver and black with Laker lettering swag on a banner with the crown below during the 90's, but lose points for lack of originality. Oh well.

I'm not from Winnipeg, nor would I consider myself a Jets fan beyond being happy they are back, but I'd certainly buy a sweater with that logo on it. Can't wait to see the full uniforms, because the new logo looks great to me.

That logo "might" grow on me. I'm finding the little notch in the blue ring by the nosecone reminds me of a North arrow (possibly alluding to the ownership group, true NORTH sports and ent.), wouldn't have minded if they embellished a little more on the North arrow with a little cross action going on, jet flying due north theme. But its still pretty ok, could be worse.

I agree that it is much more attractive on the merchandise and will probably result with the same being true for the jersey's.

An Interesting side note. There were four completely circular logo's in the NHL before the arrival of the Jets. Now five.

Wild, Bruins, Devils, Islanders?

Pens have a circular logo too iirc

I like how the new Jets logo is a simple design. I'm not a fan of "over complicated" logos. Its the simple ones that make the long lasting impact, like the Habs logo. Or the Flames classic "C" vs the ugly horse head they had a few years back.

Im sure the new Jets logo will grow on people. They say its a success if half people hate it and half people love it.

Former Moose are now the Ice Caps

So these are the colors the new Jets will use then too eh? Navy blue, sky blue, white and silver?

Me like!

I was thinking of continuing to follow the AHL team too but I just can't care about a team called Ice Caps.

^ At one time, things like team names, logos and colours were regarded as trivial details. Now they seem to have become bigger than the game itself. The thought that anyone decides whether or not to support a team based on its name or logo is mind boggling to me.
