Sidepoint, I would be so curious to take both of these groups and analyze them... I wonder if the ones that wanted to see the gore were desensitized to some degree by what they chose to be entertained by on TV/Internet/Gaming.

Um no. Everyone was visibly upset and the people who were looking underneath wanted to see if the man was still alive and needed to get out from underneath the train. — I was shaking as I got off the train, by the time we were let off it was very apparent that this person was deceased and everyone was calmly heading straight to the station exit to let the authorities take over.

This is West Coast Express with middle class to affluent commuters, not Skytrain.

I'd wanna see if the guy was still alive. It's a wonder no one was trying to drag the body parts out to try and save him. :\

Everyone basically started clearing the station to let the authorities handle it once it was apparent that this guy was either dead or almost dead.

I've seen first hand the value of immediate first aid. A person can live through anything if you can keep the heart pumping and enough blood left in whats left of their circulatory system to keep the oxygen flowing. All you really gotta do is plug the holes.

SkyTrain stations could get corporate branding. Surrey's mayor believes it's better than raising taxes.

Ugh! I think that is a bad idea. How much money can Translink get from this?

The next station is, Coca Cola/Central City... At least that's how News 1130 decided to explain it. Strange idea, but I only heard a biased report.

The new bus lanes along NB 99 between KGB-91 are almost completed. They have it all paved and looks to open soon. They did force it back down to 2 lanes for the Mud Bay Road overpass, but they are now in the process of building another lane for the overpass itself. I'll try and get pictures in the next few days. Sure will make the 351 a better option for the morning rush into Vancouver.

It wasn't so much built as a transit option but it does help the 321 a lot during peak times. The KGB between Colebrook-Hwy 99 is almost finished it's 4 laning upgrade and should be open soon as well. Thank you city of Surrey!

I agree, that's a stupid idea. I thought Watts had more sense than that. I wonder how she'll feel when King George becomes
1-800-Got-Junk Station?

The TTC in Toronto is looking to do the same thing at the moment. Ryerson is pushing to have Dundas station renamed Dundas-Ryerson.

Perhaps Production station could be Production - SFU

If that's all they meant, then we already have two "branded" stations - VCC-Clark and Langara-49th.

re branding - it can't be any worse than all the Mega branding that goes on at airports - YVR gates are all HSBC - when I was in heathrow last time everywhere i looked the gates, those moving sidewalk things - was HSBC HSBC HSBC HSBC everywhere you looked

you kinda get numb to it and don't even notice after a while

I thought maybe some of the stations they can take away the branding unless these places pay up lol. Brentwood Town Centre will become Willingdon Station unless the mall pays up. Then maybe Carter GM will also come up and offer more money than the mall to name it Carter Station.

Lougheed Town Centre station was named after the municipal town centre under the LRSP - then "Lougheed Mall" changed its name to match.

"Brentwood Mall" may have done the same.

It looks like Translink is planning rapid transit on the North Shore!

I think that in this context "rapid" means something like a B-Line, particularly considering that the 2040 map shows it going over both the Lions Gate and Second Narrows bridges.

The 2040 map shows a rapid transit link on the same route as the seabus. I wonder if this means some faster form of the seabus, like a hydrofoil.

got stuck on skytrain today around 6:30 pm or so - some minor something caused all the trains to stop for a while - it was all over after a few minutes thankfully
