5 days (probably more) of 100 degrees + is not going to be pretty, especially the way office buildings cool down around here, I have to wear a sweatshirt in my office.

The heat wave in the Midwest is headed out to the East Coast this week and I'll be in Washington DC for it.

DC/Bmore definitely can bring the heat southern midwestern style. Get yoself a wet towel 'round your neck, and a seperate dry wiping kerchief.

Actually, I really do that, the A/C in my car is broken and i dont feel like dropping 1000 bucks to fix it....................I drove to New Orleans last month and went through 10 gallons of water (for dunking the towel and drinking)...........I couldnt take any photos there because I was sweating so much that everything was soaked...

Right now I'm watching the Weather Channel and they're saying this heat wave will last pretty much until the end of time.....or maybe next week, who cares, I might not make it that long. I think it's hovering around one trillion degree mark at the moment.

.....I'm going to dump some ice down my pants.

I did that once about twenty years ago, and I'm convinced that's why my daughter is an only child.

That's the problem. The place is a friggin' swamp, and if it's 100 degrees with 100% humidity in Milwaukee, God save us from what it'll be in DC.

Also, in unrelated news, I saw my first murdered corpse after living in NY for four years.

I was biking to Coney Island beach yesterday with a friend to escape the heat, and we were biking along the Bay Parkway bike trail that winds along the South Brooklyn shore and we were about a mile south of the Verrazano Narrows. There were about four police cruisers, two ambulances and a fire marshall truck blocking the path for about a hundred feet, and, thinking a car from the Belt Parkway had jumped a median and gone into the drink, I searched for a hole in the fence. Not finding one, I waited about a minute before two harbor police boats showed up and started poking at something. One boat pulled it out; it was one of those collapsible shopping carts that grannies use shoved full with rocks and it had feet sticking out of it.

A couple years ago I happened to be in Sunset Park during a gang shootout that ended in two deaths but really can't remember seeing dead bodies that weren't covered on a stretcher or prepared for a funeral before.

Dude, I've been trying to win the lotto to get you a beachfront house in La Jolla for three years now. It's not as easy as it looks.

The 'staff is my own idiotic little nickname for this dump. Nobody else in town knows what the fuck I'm talking about when I call it that.

A pleasant 102 yesterday in Denver (according to the thermometer in my Jeep...as I was driving with the windows down and AC off) and about 72 in the high country. Haters.

90s today. I'm going hiking, because, you know, it's a dry heat.

If I lived on the beach in La Jolla I'd be sporting a Speedo™ EVERY waking moment of my day.....are you SURE you want to share those lotto winnings?
