Thanks. It's probably one of the helicopters that were flying overhead that night.

some pics of gastown for trofihn - sorry i can't figure out how to spell your name without looking at it I noticed walking around hastings near woodwards and save-on-meats the derelict and homeless etc are outnumbered by regular folk and tourists, scenesters, hipsters, trendsters etc. kinda weird and was not on edge at all like would normally feel when walking down there

all pics by me

reno

this end of blood alley really starts to stink and there were hundreds of flies - no wonder that store keeps it doors and windows closed and can't be too pleasant on the patios in the mews... they need to remove the 5 or so dumpsters that sit there...

this part was smelling disgusting i couldn't linger

Leased

I kinda miss the old wrought iron work that used to be in this place it feels kinda plain and blah now

always popular spaghetti factory

more to come

Smile thanks, Sponge !

In your Gastown photo series, I can see a subtle upmarket trend visible, regarding the refurbishment of a building, to a "tonier" look to some passages etc. I wonder if Gastown will ever gain the critical mass to become another Yorkville? Of course, in Yorkville, it's mid-town and far from poverty's edge, so I doubt it, and of course Toronto is a much larger market.

That complex, plus the empty former Museum of Vancouver create a void zone along Water right now.

Thanks for the Gastown photo tour!

I lived in Gastown for nine years a while back. Although largely contrived, it really is a wonderful part of Vancouver.
