It was difficult last night as it was! with all of us dragonboaters down there in the evening, losing that much parking is not going to be fun whatsoever! there are very few surface lots in the area to utilize as well.

That's James, a Cressy project. Foundry, which was an Intracorp project, is immediately to the right.

Don't think I saw the dock mentioned:

New dock coming to False Creek
New additions include opening of Triangle Park
By 24 HOURS

New additions are coming to False Creek this summer, with a new dock expected to be ready by August.

Located to the west of Creekside Community Recreation Centre and north of the Olympic Village plaza, the dock will connect harbour ferries and non-power boats, such as kayaks and canoes, between the north and south sides of False Creek.

The informally named Triangle Park is also open. The park, situated in the Olympic Village between the seawall and the pedestrian bridge, features benches and views of downtown Vancouver and the North Shore mountains.

Not sure if that's an additional stop for the ferries or a replacement for the existing dock - if it's a replacement. It's farther from Science World and farther for commuters connecting/arriving/departing via SkyTrain.

I'll have to revert to parking on West 2nd again (or over east of Main Street).

You are right about Foundry. My mistake. It was a Polygon project.

Tons of transit options available (Skytrain to Main, Canada Line to the Village Station, Main Street Bus, Cambie Bus, Oak Bus and the bus that goes down terminal to UBC (can't remember the name of that one). Sell the car! Next year there will be more co-op cars coming to the Village..yipee~~ and they will have electric cars too! Now all that money that I save by not having a car (gas, maintenance, insurance) I may be able to afford to shop at the Urban Affair after all!!

somehow I don't think driving up to my jobsites in my co-op car with gear for the crews tied to the roof would be the most effective method for my company, think I'm going to have to stay with the pickup truck and tuck it in the industrial when the parking goes buh bye for good along that strip.

That's true that would be rather difficult. Perhaps the Village could have a few stalls set aside strictly for trade parking. There's quite a few older buildings west of the Cambie bridge going through renovations and retrofits so that would make sense.

On a side note, what are the good Condo Renovation companies out there (One being Level one)?

Further west towards Cambie and along 1st, they paved the meridian with asphalt.

It has a bike lane in the middle, with car parking designated by signs on both edges of the meridian. Maybe they will do the same to the meridian along the olympic village?

The Straight has an interesting article about residents of city-owned properties complaining that their energy bills are very high:

The group managing two City of Vancouver–owned housing properties at the Olympic Village is hearing complaints from residents about excessive energy bills.

Thom Armstrong, executive director of the COHO Management Services Society, admitted that his group also wants some answers.

“As to the level of the invoices, we have some questions about that ourselves,” Armstrong told the Georgia Straight in a phone interview.

Unlike many residents outside the Olympic Village, which has been touted as a model of a sustainable neighbourhood, residents of the Southeast False Creek development are charged two bills for energy.

One is for electricity consumption, and this bill comes from B.C. Hydro. Then there’s a bill from Enerpro Systems Corp., a North Vancouver–based company. According to information that Enerpro put out about its billing, the charges cover “heating, cooling, hot water, and cold water”...

^^^^

Maybe they will increase their property taxes as well, just to show "leadership" in reducing their carbon footprint through a larger public transit donation.

From that article:

Quote:
According to Armstrong, Enerpro charges a flat monthly administrative fee of $12.50 for each billing, with the rest going to the City of Vancouver.

Hmmm. My monthly BC Hydro bill (condo) is usually only about $25.00-$30.00. Add a $12.50 admin fee and that increases it 40-50%.
