Geez, I'm suddenly feeling old. Very old. Anyone got some prunes?

Here, here.

I remember being in elementary school (Calvin Smith on 6200 South) when over 67% of Salt Lake County didn't want light rail and voted against it in a November election in the late '80's.

West side of North Temple viaduct photo update.

They have put plastic lining above most of the sand, and have also put in the colored concrete footings for the poles that will hold the overhead TRAX lines.

Does the colored concrete look better in person? I'm not sure I'm a fan of it yet. Kind of gives the concrete a cheap, unfinished look. I will withhold final judgment until the project is completed, though.

If the West Valley TRAX line is done, why don't they open it now instead of waiting for September?

The West Valley and Mid-Jordan Lines are opening on August 7th. This is the date they selected a couple of months ago and they are still testing the lines and trains and working on the train scheduling.

From what I've been hearing, The West Valley line will almost definitely be the one that connects to the airport line. Also, the TRAX extension along 400 South connecting the University to the hub is highly improbable because the intersection at 400 South & Main probably wouldn't be able to handle the extra rail traffic. Ride the University/Hub line while you still can, folks!

Do me a favor and flip off the UTA office for ruining the best set up for the FrontRunner University of Utah students.

Seriously do it (when no one is looking).

At least there's still buses that run from the hub to the university.

Are there still plans for a "downtown circulator"? More tracks downtown could bring the University/SL Central line back?

This article was in the Tribune a couple days ago:

Park City to Salt Lake transit expected this fall
By Lee Davidson
Salt Lake Tribune
June 27, 2011

"The Utah Transit Authority, Park City and Park City/Summit County Transit are circulating between each other an interlocal agreement that would create a joint venture to allow the service. Spokesmen on all sides say they expect it to be approved soon, and that the bus service will begin in October."

"the route discussed would begin in Salt Lake City at its downtown intermodal hub; proceed up 200 South to the University of Utah; go on I-80 up Parleys Canyon; and have stops at Jeremy Ranch, Kimball Junction, the Canyons resort, Park City Mountain resort, the Old Town transit center and the Deer Valley resort."

This will be nice when it starts running.

I really hope so. The University Line is the only line I use regularly. The University/Downtown line has very high ridership and getting rid of it was a hard decision to make. I don't know any specifics. I learned on Monday that it actually takes less time to take the bus from the hub to the University, so all is not lost. Plus the transfer at Courthouse Station shouldn't be too bad.

Hey! Here's some news! UTA is replacing the malfunctioning and outdated electronic signs at TRAX stations.
