Also of note, the CT fleet now has a hybrid in it. Bus 1754 is a new hybrid Arboc shuttle. Supposedly there are a few more coming as well for a total of 5 I believe. Slightly shorter buses then the other Arboc shuttles, and no difference in livery except the City GreenFleet sticker on them.

I hope they are planning on having some temporary bus stops closer to the south platform entrance.
As a side note, I imagine it's now impossible to cross all the way across 36th Street at Whitehorn Drive as a pedestrian in one light.

I was reading the Calgary Herald editorial on the subject of extending free fare zone, and their recommendation was to keep same free fare zone, but end free fare zone in the evenings. Calgary Herald cited a lot of feedback that women, for example, were being harrassed by drunks, and that by introducing this would limit use to customers only. I think this is a good recommendation.

With the way the new stations are designed I don't see how that would be possible. Area use as a sidewalk > use as station. Even if you did a line down the middle and one side is sidewalk and the other station, I don't think it would solve the problem of harassment.

You can't stop it at stations, but it would curtail a fair bit of the free-riding drunks on the trains themselves.
Hell, didn't we just go through a discussion wherein people here claimed that they won't ride the train due to it costing $2.75? Remove the free fare zone at night, and you get that many more riders off, obviously.

The only thing that would curtail that is boots on the ground by cops. Make the train a very uncomfortable place for people looking to cause trouble.

I am in favour of a system that looks to optimize services by reducing need for subsidy or improving level of service with same subsidy. Once ridership drops off, the system requires deep subsidies. It's actually makes it so that the free-riding drunks or addicts piss off the paying customers. That's not a very good business model.
I just purchased my 1st senior citizen pass from Calgary Transit. It's, certainly to me, a badge of honour and a right of passage. The next being my demise. I rarely, if ever travel during rush hour, and it helps get my car off the road. Still, living in Martindale, I don't yet know how much use I will make of it. I'm hoping that I will now use transit far more than I do at present.
Eliminating or reducing the free fare zone won't do an ounce of good without jackbooted enforcement which everyone knows won't happen.
The most effective anti-vagrancy effort would simply returning as many of these assholes as possible to wherever they came from by way of outstanding warrants and help the rest of them along on their way to Vancouver.

Why not a simple CTGO (from Calgary Transit Go) - pronounced CityGo? Simple, tells people what it does, and while Oyster and Octopus are international brands, I doubt Calgary needs to worry about cute factor.

I entered "Trout Pass" 'cause I think public transit is kinda a metaphor for our river and creek system. As well, the windpowered nature of the Ctrain system is something I think is very ecologically friendly. I think of it as something that could help accentuate Calgary's brand as being a river city and highlight it's ranking as world's top eco-city according to Mercer survey.

I actually dont mind trout pass........but CTGO seems like more of a winner for the big corporate crowd.

I think I might pass the Rahm Emanuel standard for residency! In any case, no big loss for me if I miss out on 6 months of transit passes. Anyone else feel free to submit the entry aswell (CTGO) - these contests usually put through entries that were submitted by many times by different people to the second stage, and every entry would help.
It would also be fun to crowd bomb the contest with something like 'Puppies and Rainbows' which I am sure is a great name for the card! Or perhaps a name linked to Stampede Wrestling!
