Ya it's too bad Main Desserts closed
I was really into their herbal teas and massive slabs of cake!
Can't really get that experience downtown also since Infussions rebranded to an Italian eatery.

Maybe they're upsizing to make room for art exhibitions. Or maybe they'll be giving away free travellers, in the spirit of friendly competition.

I noticed a small sign for a new 15-unit building at the corner of Young & Catharine. I can't imagine it's anything too exciting, but does anyone have any info on it.

Are you sure it's a new sign? I lived in Corktown a million years ago and there was always a sign on that lot.

Ya Matt, that sign has been there since I moved to Corktown approx 8 years ago :s

Also, don't be fooled by the sign on the old warehouse at Walnut & Augusta either.

Saw the notice in the Spec today: the downtown secondary plan is up for review.

Link

Mainly has to do with zoning, building heights, etc. Public Meeting on June 8th if anyone is interested.

"Downtown" is certifiably Queen to Victoria, Cannon to Hunter, and along James only from Charlton to the CN tracks.

Loosening things up in anticipation of the REIT goldrush?

I think this deserves a Thread on it's own. Guaranteed to generate some discussion!

Frankly I am surprised it lasted as long as it did, given the quality/price point mismatch it has suffered from for years now.

Deco's Deli is a much better sandwich place in JS. I believe its owner/operator was a former manager of Druxy's several years ago, back when Druxy's was 'good'.

Strongly agree with Mark. Deco's is a much better choice and it looks like they've been thriving with business, to the point that they even expanded into an adjacent store front.
