He got a lot of money from Shaw.

I am sure his family will be donating to a few causes in his name. He got about $300 million from the sale of Mountaincable to Shaw. He also had many other business interests.

Thank God! Seriously though, it's easier still for me to reach a DT Toronto Imax than Ancaster (HSR vs GO).

I really wish the giant empty lot on KingWilliam btw John & Walnut would be turned into a large, modern megaplex! It would fit into the 'entertainment' area well, being right next to Theatre Aquarius. Would also bring more ppl into a somewhat deserted stretch of the Core - always amazes me how dead KingWilliam is compared to KingSt, one block south.

That's interesting. I believe that building was an old A&W drive in restaurant once upon a time, before its present incarnation. Guess it is going full circle, back to the future.

Well at least it's going back to what it originally was. I wonder if they will use the same building or tear it down and build a new one. It would be nice if they kept the current building and went with the retro look.

It's a 64 seat restaurant with the retro look. Kinda a flat V shaped roof. From the wording of the document is says "permit alterations to the existing restaurant".

Come on, guys, let's not fall for that nonsense again. You can tell by the sign that nothing will come of it. There have been a variety of different "development coming soon" signs on that property for years. It's just a bit of speculation.

I just heard on CHCH news that Harvest Burger is closing officially on September 3. They did sell to A & W according to the report. The report said the owners of Harvest Burger bought the store from A & W 33 years ago.

Harvest Burger closing after 32 years

They bought the property – coincidentally, a closed A&W outlet – in November 1979. It used to be a “drive-in” where customers would order from the parking lot and the servers would rollerskate out with a tray that was hooked on the car window.

There is still a lot of work to be done. Their last day is Sept. 4 and they have till the 15th to clear everything out before A&W moves in. In the midst of their excitement at being able to retire and sadness for having to say goodbye to their customers, there is another feeling of loss that the Fthenos’ are working through. Ippokratis’s brother, who owned another Harvest Burger outlet at 478 King St. E., passed away of a heart attack three weeks ago.
