It's nice to back in a city that gets some sun.

I got bored tonight and decided to boot up TF2. Needless to say, this moment got quite a few laughs.

I bought thick frame glasses because I'm trendy like that.

Do you also drink PBR and wear skinny jeans accented by plaid button-down shirts? If so you're a hipster...

Yesterday I saw a guy walking down the street listening to an iPod and he had orange skin and a really big smile for no apparent reason, especially considering he was in Thunder Bay.

I was extremely suspicious and stayed very far away.

Those must be the stereotypes for somewhere else, cuz half that shit ain't considered hipster here.

1. Chucks have always been popular so I don't see how they're hipster.
2. It's Colorado. Shit, the snowboard and skateboard scene has been rockin flannel shirts forever. Definitely not hipsters.
3. Tight jeans. Yeah, those are hipster, although really popular in the skate scene as well, and I have no idea why.
4. Once again it's CO, everyone wears hoodies, though not tight ass hoodies like in the video.
5. I'll give them the beard (or moustaches) and glasses.
6. I guess iphones and macs are hipster now? Who knew?
7. Jettas are for girls.
8. If you wear a scarf people just assume you're gay.
9. Raybans aren't popluar. Oakley Frogskins are.

10. Everyone drinks PBR. And since PBR has been popular for so freaking long now, the hipsters don't drink it. They drink Schlitz or Olympia or Hamm's, or go to bars like this one where you can buy 40s.

I dunno, maybe that came out a few years ago, but, it doesn't seem to match up with what actual stereotypes are. Also shocked that they didn't mention fixie bikes, which, like PBR, now seem to be so popular that they're no longer hipster. All that said, rather hang out with a bunch of hipsters than a bunch of corporate types.

edit: I should try and explain the snowboard hipster culture sometime. It's really funny.

Earlier today as I was picking up dinner I saw that downtown Rock Island apparently was the site of a recent Shaniqua brawl. There were magenta hair weaves, big hoop earrings and artificial fingernails all over the sidewalk.

That is far more interesting than the piles of clothes I find everywhere. Lately I have seen socks everywhere. Always in pairs. On the bus, in gardens, stuck over fence posts, hanging off of street signs. It's bizarre.

I think the whole point of "hipsterdom" is that the people think they're being unique, but are really just following a slightly less popular trend than what you find in the mainstream.

BTW, macs are the biggest hipster douchebaggery around. If you are confused by why people make fun of iphones, macbooks, and now ipads, then a lot people probably think you are a hipster. The ipod is the only non douchy mac product around, but that's only because everyone and their grandmother has one.

There was a time about two summers ago when I kept seeing rubber gloves scattered everywhere.

....I just don't want to know.

I'll give Macs this: If you're in graphic design, or video editing, its software beats anything available for the PC.

The most sophisticated software I use are Microsoft Office suite and open source Photoshop (GIMP), so yeah.

I grow tired of the hipper-than-thou cult[ure] surrounding Macs. I don't own a single Mac product (Creative mp3 player, Android mobile phone, ACER laptop, etc) and I don't feel any less proficient in my technological knowledge or wizardry because of it.

Then again, the entire last paragraph I wrote makes me sound like a goddamn hypocrite, but hey, at least I'm aware of my foibles.

Also, I go back to Ohio this week. Fucking Bucyrus, wherever the hell that is. What is it with my family and not getting married in big cities!?

I also lied and told a customer at the bookstore I work at that I used to be Jewish when she said I wasn't much of a Christian. Apparently I could pass for a Jew if I really wanted to, mostly because of how much I bitch/moan/whine/complain. And the dark curly hair...what's left of it, anyway.

So...how yall doin'?

I thought you just came from Ohio? I assumed you were already at that wedding.

Who cares how much of a Christian you are? Most people who call themselves Christian aren't actually Christian anyway.
