Here's some pictures I took yesterday at 69th Street Station.

Are they building a full interchange at 17th and Sarcee? the overpass they are building looks to wide for just the LRT.

Yes. There will be an interchange and also a LRT guideway right beside it. 17th Ave. will pass over Sarcee Trail.

They were loading lots of rail on to the elevated guidway yesterday around 4:30. I heard a news report that they plan to have all of the rail installed on the guidway up to crowchild by July.

I guess this should go here too.

Here is the proposed bus routing system for the area served by West LRT when it opens in 2012.

There is more info and a listing of what is happening with each route in the area in this PDF: http://www.calgarytransit.com/pdf/West_LRT_Bus_Route_Open_House_June_2011.pdf

Basically the system will change from an "express to downtown" to a "feeder to LRT" system, with some other changes and a couple of BRT routes to MRU thrown in.

There are some public consultation open houses upcoming in June that will allow for input on the changes. Dates are as follows:

For residents west of Sarcee Trail:

Wednesday, June 1 from 5:00-8:30 p.m.
Strathcona Community Association
277 Strathcona Drive SW Upstairs Loft

For residents east of Sarcee Trail:

Thursday, June 9 from 5:00-8:30 p.m.
Glenbrook Community Association
3524 – 45 Street SW Main Hall

For Beltline residents:

Thursday, June 16 from 5:00-8:30 p.m.
South Calgary Community Association
3130 – 16 Street SW Main Hall

For Lakeview residents:

Thursday, June 23 from 5:00-8:30 p.m.
Lakeview Community Association

Frink, those are some fantastic photos. I notice that at a number of the tunnel locations there is some serious separations between the tunnel portals. Is there any reason why they have done this versus the pillars that seem to separate the tunnels on the existing north-south line.

The ones you're most likely looking at are at 69th Street, where the two portals have a large separation becuase there's a centre-loading platform in between.

Only issue that it glaring for me is the 104 stop at Sirocco station. With no pedestrian bridge, and no bus bay west of Sirocco on 17th Ave, it is quite a walk to the station across 6 lanes of traffic and the LRT tracks. Same for trips of both directions.

All for what - so they don't have to reopen the bus trap into Strathcona? Seems a big scacrifice to 'protect' a small number of homeowners.
