I was down at the site at around 11:00 this morning and even then there were a lot of people around. I thought it was kind of cool to be visiting New York on such a momentous day. I'll most likely be posting some of my pictures when I return home on the weekend.
I hear President Obama is going to Ground Zero on Thursday. Don't know if that means a construction halt, but we'll probably be compensated with some great crowd photos.

News vans can really uglify a place. It's starting to look like a SETI site.
Also, I don't know if it's just me, but the tower looks like it's getting thinner as it grows. I don't know if it's just the taper effect becoming more evident or if I'm going crazy.
tell me about it, I hate when you're at a site and news vans get in the way of the pics you're trying to take. It's not like you can ask them to get out of the way, they'll just tell you that the public is asking for some kind of coverage immediately and that's more important than the creative work that needs to be done. Weird that you'd mention it now though, don't people here who aren't able to be there want to have news? Personally I've been news-starved about this. I cannot find enough news on the internet even though I'm dying to be at the site and seeing it.

This will be a great opportunity for the country and the world to see just how far the rebuilding has come.

Back to WTC talk.... Looks like the glass is up to 16 rows already. I was away for 12 days and came home and noticed the difference. It also gave me the chance to see WTC in person for the first time. While stuck on the Verazanno Bridge you could see her in all it's glory. The one time I didn't mind waiting to come home to LI while stuck on the bridge.
Great shots! I think this one is my favorite, particularly the right side.

Which raises the OT-but-still-interesting alternate history question, will the NY skyline ultimately be better or worse because of 9/11? Would Lower Manhattan have become a stagnant museum without the system shock? Would Midtown have become mediocre without the new energy thrust into the identity of New York? In fact, I think I'll start a thread on that.

The only problem with discussion along those lines is that some will assert that there really can be no objective answer to what is a matter of personal taste, and then immediately get into "Well, that's YOUR opinion!" type disputes.
Which renders the whole discussion pointless and annoying.
