Everyone was arguing tremendously about how it's bad, I assume you guys would like it better if they changed it. But no.

I'm just saying, you can argue all you want about it, how it's all bad and stuff, but you can't change the fact that it's already being built (almost finished, if I might add). And most importantly, you can keep expressing your opinions on the WTC, but those opinions can't change the outcome of the entire project.

Go ahead, continue arguing about the design, architecture, whatever. The WTC is going to continue to rise.

Oh and yes, if you ask for my opinion, Onn pretty much summed it up:

And that's just the way WTC is, accept it. The whole site is going to be great when finished. Don't judge too soon, there's a lot of potential here. These are supertall buildings in every sense of the word. And, I think, the highest quality of any in the world. They aren't going to let us down.

They are putting in the vertical steel beams for the 64th floor, so now the tower is 774 feet 8 inches tall, with the splice its 780 feet tall. Its really starting to dominate the sky line of NYC. yay.

Arguing about WTC's worthiness is not about trying to change what is being built. It's about stopping complacency.

By pointing out flaws or shortcomings, you instill an interest for improvement and the desire to achieve greater things, not with this complex, but with the next project. By simply accepting everything that gets approved as a forgone conclusion, your silence gives developers free rein to design to their lowest denominator, rather than surpassing your expectations.

Complacency is what kills empires and that is what aquablue is trying to circumvent with his criticism of the WTC complex. Criticism stirs the soul to better itself. Silence lets you sit on the couch and do nothing.

Did I miss a jump? I thought this new steel was for 61 and 62?

well in a nice way, I guess so. remember when the 62 nd Floor was the milestone to surpass Tower 7, well we reached that like 2 almost 3 weeks ago, and the they are starting the construction of the 63 rd and 64 th floors, also another mile stone. within the 63 rd and 64th floors is the first skylobby for the New Tower 1.

They are making up for the long wait from the last rise of steel. Very happy!

Ok, let me rephrase my statement, "No one is trying to change it, because we all know that the design is final and unchangeable. They are only talking about ideas and things they don't like." There. Besides, I never argued against the design. I love 1WTC! I was only defending freedom of expression

Looking back, I still remember not being able to make any sense of the plaza with all the machinery, construction materials, and steel erection in progress. It's kind of cool to compare now with it wrapping up and looking more like the renders. Even after completion, the early photos will be a good historical snapshot of what it was like with the young trees. A few decades later these things will have some intense canopy cover. The plaza will be constantly evolving and will only get better with time.

Traynor, can you hook us up with an updated version of your Downtown Height Checklist? If you keep up with it, I think it would add lots of coolness/visual clarity to this thread, in terms of the building and its context.

The vertical steel is for the 62,63 and the beginning of the 64th floors. The top enclosed floor is the 61st floor about eye level to the top of 7 WTC.

But nothing has been surpassed by this latest jump... Oh well... Here it is again:

I wonder if they ever thought about remaking the large globe that was between the original twin towers. Or maybe a smaller replica. I will never forget seeing it after the collapse of the towers.
