Swiss Chalet sauce tastes like a mix of paint thinner and baby vomit. It's right up there with Arby's "Horsey sauce".

I'm not an all local person either - there are a few favorites from certain chains that I'm a regular for. Swiss Chalet Chicken (skip the sauce) for example is my work-late pickup on the way home food. But when in doubt traveling, chain food all the way, although I do enjoy discovering local eats if I can, it's just more variable in quality than chains.

I have to say that I have yet to find a better Clam Chowder (to me anyway) than what they serve at Earl's. I guess one exception would be my uncle's home made chowder (in Cape Breton Island).

I used to be a saucier and trainer for chefs in Alberta for Earls. The chowder was made for the longest time in house. it was fantastic back then although consistency was an issue. After that the chowder was made at an outside factory using the Earls recipe. Came in these clear bags (priceless). Anyway, the cuts on the carrots and potatoes were all standardized.

What is with people in Calgary saying "I hate downtown, there is no parking" Who the f is telling people this 🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵? The core needs help. Well, at least there are no line-ups and crowds for now.....

It was SO beautiful downtown this weekend and I had the chance to show some Winnipeggers around. The said they were finally impressed with our downtown becasue there are actually people wandering around now.

It's not just commercial buildings anymore.....

Oh, a sad point though.........The core shopping centre locked it's doors on Sunday because not many shops were open. There were dozens of people trying to get in and there was no signage saying that the mall was closed. I heard a group of English people (maybe tourists) dogging Calgary because nothing was open. Sad.

Luckily, The Bay was open and I encourage everyone to check out the deals on furniture!

I say tough 🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵 to tourists who dont bother to check when they are visiting and then 🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵 that things are closed. Its a holiday for gods sake (pun intended), any other weekend everything is open. I've been to Prauge 3 times, and each time I wanted to see the old jewish cemetery, and I always ended up in the area on a Saturday and it was closed (odd luck I guess). Is it the cemeteries fault for not catering to my schedule, or my fault for not taking into account that Saturday is the Sabath and nothing Jewish is open.

pacific centre mall in downtown vancouver was shut on easter sunday too - a few malls shut down for easter - which was surprising i don't think i've seen a mall shut down other than new years day and christmas day

I would rather see a local enterprise be successful at Currie. I have been to Whole Foods in West Van and it is ok, but I didn't have any kind of organic religious experience while shopping there. I have heard people say they prefer Trader Joe's, but I don't think there are any in Canada.
