Oh man, I remember passing a Shoney's in Birch Run, MI. I think they tore it down and built a Culvers in its place.

About a month. Then it became an Arby's, and the Arby's is still there.

jeez rocky, you don't know the history of taco bell in thunder bay?

Two weeks later it closed and was replaced by an Arby's.

And the really sad thing about it? It's located on a hill and has a big glass window on front, which offers a panoramic vista of the city from its dining room. It would actually be a really cool spot for a fine dining establishment.

The manager of the Arby's at the time was cool (haven't been there in years, who knows if he is still there) whenever he was working he'd give out free food to waiting customers, usually small stuff like fries and jalapeno poppers. Their business wasn't much better than the Taco Bell, but they've managed to stay open the whole time.

It doesn't look like its very high up, but when you're in there at night you can see all the city lights, it's really cool. The Pizza Hut was even higher, they built the floor of this building a bit lower. The view is probably even better now that McDonalds is out of the way.

I've never had Taco Bell.

That's because Arby's is awesome.

St. John's has neither.

There are Subways everywhere, a few McDonald's, a DQ on campus, and some A&Ws. I think we're getting a second BK, but both are in the 'burbs (which is too bad because that's my go-to drunk food (which may be why I've only gotten drunk here thrice since August)). Then I read the guys in the Calgary section talking about Five Guys and Fatburger and I get very homesick. My diet this summer is going to be terrible.

For a bit of the surreal...Flavor Flav opened a fried chicken restaurant about 20 miles north of here, in Clinton, Iowa. As much as I can't stand the guy I need to head up there, I've heard nothing but good about it......well, other than the fact that he hasn't yet paid some of his employees. ....but still, people are lining up around the block.

Yes, they do play this comercial here....I can't believe they can get away with calling it FFC!

He plans to open a restaurant later this year in Davenport, then it's on to Los Angeles.

In all honesty, we do have a Dakota to spare. I'd personally give them the southern one, but I wouldn't lose to much sleep if we gave them the north. They can have one of the Carolinas, too, preferably the southern one. We'll also throw in Alaska for good measure, just 'cause we're so generous.

My best friend (and I agree) describes Arby's as "always disappointing".

We'll give you North Dakota if your country builds a wall around Arizona and uses the interior for target practice.

I love me some Shoney's but I've only found them south of the Ohio River. I was at one in a really small town in Kentucky last summer. A couple of the locals came up to our table because they noticed the Canadian license plate and they wanted to know 'what it was like up there'. (At least that's what I think they said...couldn't really understand them with the accents and all).

It is my duty to keep the world informed on pointless trivialities of or relating to Thunder Bay and its surrounding area.

If I ever move I will probably have to make things up about Thunder Bay, just to keep myself sane.

If you go you could have Flav himself cook your chicken for you. From what I hear he's there quite often. Guess he doesn't have a lot going on in his music or TV career at the moment.
I heard Brigitte Nielson got a job there scrubbing toilets.

Better yet, just turn it into a bombing range. That's basically all Nevada is, anyway, outside of Vegas and Reno.

I think he also has family or friends living in Clinton. From what I hear from people who've gone to his restaurant or saw him at the Quad City airport, he's a really friendly, nice guy unlike his grating, annoying stage persona.
