Means that T. Stacy could be breaking ground in a few years on a new office tower. I'm glad that there's some new information from him I think the last time we heard from him was in 2006.

UPDATED: Seton, partner planning rehab hospital at busy Triangle

UPDATED: Artist’s rendering included, and a more extensive hospital description

The Seton Family of Hospitals and a business partner will break ground Wednesday for a 50-bed rehabilitation hospital at the Triangle, Seton announced today.

The facility, slated to open in about a year, will be the new home of the Central Texas Rehabilitation Hospital, housed since August 2007 inside of Seton Medical Center Austin on 38th Street. The facility now consists of 20 beds, said Matilda Sanchez, a Seton spokeswoman

A rehab hospital provides physical therapy, speech therapy and other services to people who have experienced a head injury, stroke, physical trauma or some other debilitating condition.

It will remain 20 percent owned by Seton and 80 percent owned by RehabCare Group Inc., a St. Louis-based company that manages rehab programs in partnership with more than 1,270 hospitals and nursing homes in 42 states, according to its website. That company also owns and operates 35 long-term acute care and rehabilitation hospitals.

The Triangle facility at 700 W. 45th Street will feature a therapy pool, three gyms and specialized programs for patients with complex physical and cognitive problems, according to Seton.

This has got to be the biggest news for Downtown Austin in years. I am elated.

800 Foot 5th & Congress Super Tower to Return

We reported extensively on the original project when it was first announced. Although the details are likely to change dramatically between the first proposal and anything built today, the original plans called for a 925,000 square feet mixed use building which would be the largest downtown Austin project at nearly twice the square feet of the Frost Bank Tower. The project (rendering below) was to be designed by the world-famous architecture firm of Pelli Clarke Pelli, who also designed the Petronas Towers, once the tallest buildings in the world, and the Museum of Modern Art and Museum Tower in New York City.

Two new mixed-use towers, garage planned downtown

T. Stacy & Associates and Walton Street Capital LLC announced Monday refinancing a loan that will free up cash for the project first revealed about three years ago. The pair closed on a new loan with lender Aareal Bank AG for their Bank of America Tower at 6th Street and Congress Avenue, according to a press release.
The new towers are planned for the same block bound by Brazos and 5th Street, plus a half block across the street. Construction on the first phase — the parking garage — is slated for early 2012.

T. Stacy and Walton Street Capital Close on Refinance of Loan on Bank of America Building at 6th and Congress

T. Stacy & Associates and Walton Street Capital have closed on a new loan on its Bank of America Tower at 6th and Congress that frees up all development parcels of any debt.

The lender was Aareal Bank AG, a German bank that came to T. Stacy through mortgage banker Holliday, Fenoglio Fowler, L.P. (HFF).

"Austin has so much appeal that European banks are looking to invest," Tom Stacy said. "But they are demanding first-class projects that are well positioned for stability and growth in the future with strong sponsorship."

Anyway, I'm glad that that parcel of the Triangle is being filled. I'd prefer it be another apartment project with more street interaction, but diversity of usage is a plus I guess.

like I always say anything beats nothing. Someone had a "newer" picture of what T. Stacy would look like kind of makes you wander if the design will still have a twist to it

This is it.

Downtown Austin’s Railyard District Getting A New Neighbor?

Last month it was reported that Riverside Resources was under contract to buy the Whitley Building at 301 Brazos St. The downtown Austin development site is zoned Central Business District (CBD) with no Capitol View Corridor restrictions. According to reporter Jacob Dirr’s Twitter feed, the local development firm is planning a 20-story residential redevelopment of the site.

I'm wondering if they're still going to be doing that Bank of America Center modification that appeared in earlier renderings. If you take a look, it was the blue glass top to it. Also, in the above rendering, what's that building in the foreground in front of the T. Stacy towers?

That's the parking garage (which is part of the development). It will be the first building constructed.

How tall is the parking garage? Just curious.

From what was announced in the first articles, it was supposed to have 12 levels. It would be our tallest parking garage. The first floor is supposed to have retail. I would imagine it'll be around 130 to 140 feet tall. The One Congress Plaza and Convention Center garages are 11 floors and around 125 to 130 feet tall.

Damn man, skyscraper news overload!

That's good to hear, too, about the residential tower planned at the Whitley Printing site. The elevation shows it to be 220 feet and 18 floors tall. So it'll be about as tall as AMLI on 2nd (225 feet and 18 floors). And apparently the widest side of this building will face San Jacinto, which means it'll likely not occupy the entire block. So we could see another tower on the west side of that block later on probably. We'll have a many "street wall" affect on San Jacinto with the Whitley Printing residential tower, Hampton Inn & Suites to the north, and the new Hyatt Place Hotel north of that all standing in a row.

No. The widest side is along 3rd and it looks to take up the entire site, but not the whole block because 1/3 of it is already developed.

From the looks of it, I would say anywhere from Nov' 11 and forth if it does start.

And most likely the only building constructed until 2016 or so.
