I wouldn't say that. There's definitely quite a few gangs and grow ops, but I lived around there for 18 years and I wouldn't say it was sketchy, nor would I say it has it really changed all that much.
It will be changing a lot soon, with that lot by Royal Oak station getting lowrises as well as the pending lowrises along Imperial St close to Royal Oak.
Yup, but that kind of development has been happening slowly for quite a while. I used to live in the Village development near Edmonds. All that was the Weiser lock factory. Pretty nice place to live, but I cant help but think it's a pretty bad idea to move all the industrial down to big bend where it's relatively inaccessible. If only they could just make some denser industrial development to soak up some of the stuff being redeveloped.

Proposed Wayfinding Pylon. Features a new "T" symbol which, apparently, TransLink is going to use as a beacon for all it's major transit services. Similar to the other "T" or "M" symbols found on other major metro systems around the world.

Broadway/Commercial SkyTrain Station improvements. From what I can tell in the rendering, it includes:
- a large glass roof to act as a large bus shelter for the 99 B-Line on both the arrival and departing sides of the street
- a new pedestrian crossing directly from the Broadway Station entrance across the street to the Commercial Station hub entrance
- orange/white stripe paint highlighting the pedestrian crossing area on the road
- a widened pedestrian bridge
- new sheltering structure under the pedestrian bridge
- replacement of the Broadway Station metal mesh screens with glass walls

Wasn't there also a plan to extend the platform beside the pedestrian bridge?
I'm nearly certain that the platform extension would be on the south side of the station which would then extend over 10th Avenue. The glass walkway above Broadway is slated for renovations during the next phase of construction and that would see the walkway widened to encompass all of the space between the guide ways.

All the route changes mentioned earlier in this thread seem to have been included in the bus schedules section of Translink's website with the exception of the #14 Hastings UBC route I wonder why not?
Translink seems to have replaced a number of trollies on the #7 route with diesels or hybrids. any idea what the problem may be?
Weekend West Coast Express trainbus is being cancelled, and some weekday trainbus service between Mission and Port Haney being reduced.
So everyone knows, ValleyMAX and not Translink funds the Port Haney to Mission portion of the West Coast Express service, although Translink sets the fares.
So I spotted some fancy Orion VIIs on the way to work this morning, running the 258 to UBC. Sorry for the blurry photos, I was taking some sakura shots this morning and forgot to put it back on autofocus.

Frankly I'm not a fan of the design, especially the open air vent at the back. Who the hell thought of that? I can only see the engine rusting prematurely with that not being enclosed in Vancouver's rainy weather.
What happened today
I was eastbound on a Millenium Line train and it was relabelled as "train to Columbia", meaning the Millenium Line beyond Columbia was closed. Didn't really matter because I was going to switch to an Expo but I wonder what happened
I saw the white LED headlight SkyTrain again. It was train number 233.
Speaking of Headlight upgrades.
Has anyone noticed some old buses with retrofitted xenon projector headlights in them instead of the stock halogens? I should have taken a picture when I saw one last time in Richmond.
