Are the height/roof proportions disclosed in respect to the sub-basement levels-bedrock? Any clarification would do. Thanks.
As stated, read the previous page.

BTW, the discussions on the height editing were in the last couple of pages (where it shall remain), and explained thoroughly enough.

Slightly older pics..

The progress is great, though the gap is closing before this thing hits street level. Hopefully Larry has some surprises up his sleeve that involve tenants.

Ashes

I think I'm more excited about WTC2 than any of the other buildings. WTC1 get it for being the biggest and baddest, but WTC2 .... it's just special.

Out the Ashes of Hatred grows the Hope for Freedom and Compassion. That's what I think of when I see the photo by Patapsco.

My mind is blown with the speed and dexterity with which they've accomplished what they've accomplished. Do not get me wrong. I already knew the architects behind this were sheer geniuses. I was conscious of the fact that the architects are working here because they care for the city. I can't imagine why, given that the city bureaucrats have wasted years now with internal bickering on what to do with the site of this catastrophe, failing to prevent and then fairly compensate the workers who later had health concerns for slaving down there, letting it sit there like a festering wound instead of putting all of their efforts into immediately repairing the site damage. And neglecting to at least put up an interim structure that appropriately memorialized those who were lost in the crisis and the heroes that actually tried to repair it, and wasting far too much time worrying about allowing this to go forward rather than conquer their own fears about handling attacks in order to come up with systemic plans to prevent that. All of which are things the city should have done and now realizes.

And I'm sure the city would never have chosen its architect if it hadn't known it was the most exceptional candidate alive or dead for the project. I don't think the city even realized what those behind this were capable of. The city has apparently still been a mess of infighting up until this moment and they have spent way too much time quibbling over the tower itself than just being dazzled by their architect. Personally I wish I could step far enough back through time into their offices to replace all of that time with figuring out ways to reward them for it on every possible level. Right now I've been glued to my computer following it, because my mind is pretty much blown right now.

this building doesn't have the path tracks to worry about either, that is why it has such a fast start

Being an architect myself, I couldn't have said it any better.

Remember though, a building isn't a building unless you put heart into it.

^^^ Our office has that quote on the side if the wall. It's in big gold letters glued to a huge 15 foot black solid marble block.

This tower will be at street level by the end of the year, but also remember there were none of the issues like those involved with building the foundation for tower 4...

Yep, they knew the rock formation was there from drill tests, but that part of the WTC site was not fully excavated back in the '60's.

The T2 site is nice and solid and relatively flat.

I have also noticed that the Silverstein controlled parts of the WTC tend to get built faster. (Once everything is hashed out.) Time is money and speed saves money.

They seem to be going at a pretty good pace here, I would even go so far as to say faster than normal, or at least what we are used to seeing. Also, it won't hurt Silverstein's chances of finding a tenant, knowing that it could be up relatively sooner than most of the other large-scale office towers planned.

Couldn't agree more. Silverstein ought to get a Medal of Freedom or something when this is all over. Consistently throughout the whole rebuilding process, he has been the only one with his foot on the gas, while virtually every other party involved, from the PA to the police to the families, has had theirs on the brake. It's ironic, but telling, that the guy who is mostly in it for the money is the only one who is actually doing what the general public wants.

Anyway, considering the economic recovery, I think it is better than even money that he will find financing for T2, and probably T3 as well, by the time the podiums (podia?) are finished.

The podium for tower 2 isn't planned to rise unless Silverstein gets the money to finance full construction, and tower 3 still has a minimal lease commitment to get past the first half of the base. And Silverstein expects to have financing to get 30 Park Place back under construction next year. If Silverstein gets all of these towers rising (he will have two 900 footers and two 1,000 footers under construction all within a matter of blocks), I'll give him a medal myself.

I think I'm in the minority for not being in love with this one. Perhaps it's exactly what JMGarcia points out ...it doesn't fit in with the rest. Poor composition overall.

or perhaps it's because the top diamond doesn't get finished with a similar facade.

Forgive me for not finding anything in the search and reading all 80 pages but why is the top diamond not finished like the rest? Exhaust? Cranes? Isn't there anyway clever to circumvent that/those necessity(ies) to 'finish' the building properly? Like stagger the glass to vent but still look identical from afar.
