look, you're probably right but why not just wait till further information is given? I don't know why the floor count is changed on all the WTC towers (minus 1). I don't know how credible that source NYguy had, I wish he were here to explain more.

I am here. I'm not going to go into a lengthy dialogue about the number differences, but they are there. The numbers come from wtc.com where the wtc updates are posted. It's not the first time the numbers for this one has changed. It was originally 1,254 ft to the "roof".

Anyway, take what you will from the comparisons.

As I said when I originally posted it, it could be interpreted either way.

You do realize that only half of the core is visible through the earthcam, right?

Let's chill out and not confuse forms with actual walls.

They are working the site from east to west but I doubt there are any forms for the core ready for a pour just yet.

Oh joy, thunder snow here in Somerset County NJ at the moment. (The mess is headed east.)

Nope. Only the foundation walls and steel, same height as the first day they were installed.

Expect the walls to rise and more steel to come.

It looks like One WTC in 2007/08 now. But streetlevel is going to be reached sooner.

@NYguy, what site did you get this information from, I just went to wtc.com and clicked on office towers and it still lists the old heights.

Just for the record, for those still concerned about the change in height posted, it was interepreted the same as we have always interpreted the height - from the beginning when the towers were first revealed. It's been consistent. The wording has always been the same, only the figures have changed over the years. As I've said before, it's very possible that when the latest changes were made (for all of the towers) the info for tower 2 wasn't stated in the manner that it always has been. But the fact remains, the info is different from what we had - for all of the WTC towers (minus the Freeom Tower). In all the years we have watched New York skyscrapers going up, it is not ucommon for the exact figures to change once or twice, yes even after construction has begun (or in the cas of Gehry's tower, nearly completed). We are not talking about dramatic changes, but we will get the numbers right.

We've been following changes in the height figures, the floor numbering changes of the towers is something more recent...

from page 1

Quote:
NEW YORK TIMES-Dave Dunlap

Lord Foster’s Tower 2, with a rooftop of four enormous diamonds steeply inclined toward the memorial below, would be as high as the Empire State Building. Tower 3 by Lord Rogers, framed boldly by an exoskeletal framework of diagonal beams, would reach a pinnacle of 1,255 feet at its corner antennas. Even the smallest and subtlest building among them, Mr. Maki’s Tower 4, would be taller than the Citigroup Center in midtown

By virtue of its size and aesthetic bravura, Lord Foster’s Tower 2 at 200 Greenwich Street, between Vesey and Fulton Streets, may draw the most public attention. The 1,265-foot building is to have 78 floors, 62 for offices, four trading floors and the rest for retail and mechanical space. The uppermost of the rooftop diamonds will be a tripod shaped antenna whose pinnacle is 1,350 feet above street level, just 18 feet shy of the Freedom Tower’s parapet.

New renderings, and a slight increase in the height. The building is now 1,270 ft to roof,
and the 80 ft diamond shaped spire brings it to a total of 1,350 ft...

With the staircase out of the way, the construction of Tower 2, a 1,278-foot-tall skyscraper, can continue unimpeded

from page 17

The 1,147-foot Tower 3, designed by Richard Rogers, will contain 2.5 million square feet of office space 150,000 square feet of retail, a 60-foot-tall lobby and direct access to mass transit. Tower 4, designed by Fumihiko Maki, will contain 2.3 million rentable square feet of office space, anchored by the 600,000-square-foot Port Authority lease, and 140,000 square feet of retail space. And Turner Construction will build Tower 2, designed by Norman Foster. The 1,278-foot-tall building will contain 2.8 million square feet of space

Tower 2, also known by its street address, 200 Greenwich Street, features a sparkling glazed crystalline form and diamond-shaped summit that will create a bold addition to the New York skyline. Designed by Foster and Partners, the 79-story tower will be the second-tallest skyscraper on the World Trade Center (WTC) site and in New York City. Located east of the proposed performing arts center and north of the WTC Transportation Hub, Tower 2 will rise to 1,278 feet and be topped by an 80-foot antenna.

Thumbs down

Okay, now I'm confused. I thought this tower was 1,350 Feet (Pinnacle) and 1,278 (Roof). The title of the thread is 1,429 Feet (Pinnacle) and 1,349 (Roof). Where did the extra floors come from. Are the height/roof proportions disclosed in respect to the sub-basement levels-bedrock? Any clarification would do. Thanks.
