On...er off topic (at least pertaining to Kelowna developments) I just talked to my Dad last night, and he mentioned that while driving the Hope/Princeton a few months ago, a cougar ran across the road in front of him. He's a life-long BC boy, and it was the first, and probably last, cougar he's seen.

Now back on topic, it looks like SOPA is excavating, and the old Liquidation World is going through a transformation. Not sure what's going in there though.

SOPA is full steam forward - my guess crane will be up in a few weeks.

As for the Liquidation World, it will be a new restaurant - Original Joe’s.

I've seen updated renders for this project (the "Monaco", seemingly unrelated to the Peachland megaproject dubbed "New Monaco") and they look fantastic...much less stucco/concrete from the previous drawings and much more glass, somewhat similar to the look of the half-cylinders on the Madison. The buildings are very bulky - reminds me of Capitol in Vancouver. I will post them once copies are obtained.

Best Buy in Orchard Park hmmmmm. I didn`t think there was any room for such a store there. Maybe a stand alone store. If so parking will be a joke there now forsure, as it already is.

The hospital expansion is a pretty major project, especially for Kelowna. I still think the KGH is in an odd location (surrounded by single-family homes and lowrises). I imagine in the future everything north of it will be redeveloped and become more dense while to the south it will remain more suburban (with exception to Lakeshore around KLO).

The hospital on the other hand looks like it has potential.

they're gonna have to do something about the traffic on pandosy. it's unbearable in the summer. once the hospital is fully built up, and sopa square + area, that road is going to be gridlock throughout the year.

I personally really like Kelowna and given its weather and geography, it has a lot of potential to be a unique and fun city in Canada, as long as they keep on limiting sprawl and adding density to the downtown core (which already is quite a bit of fun in the summer!).

Wow. Not bad for ol' K-Town. I mean, don't get me wrong, the design is dated and the podium is wack, but hey, I'll take it for now.

not a big fan of the roofs, but i like the lofts + madison architecture mixture.
i am a big fan of what looks to be commercial/retail on the first few floors.

I sure hope these towers go through and break ground soon, anybody know the likelihood of them going through, and if so, when?

I am sure we could all find something we don't like about it, but overall, I think they are quite nice looking and will add a lot to the Kelowna skyline.

Any renders of the 18 floor office tower about to start construction? my brother lives in Kelowna and that tower's elevator installation contracts are already signed s it must be about to go forward.

There's an 18 floor office tower about to go up in Kelowna?!?! This is the first I've heard of it. Are they actually going to build it downtown or is it going up around the other offices near Springfield Rd.?
