Pic by me today - from a different boardroom to get the Hotel Vancouver reflection, so there's a bit of interior reflection.

This tower is looking good. I just hate the awful glass and spandrels they chose for the corners!!!

Nice shot. The Georgia really fills an empty space, from this angle anyway.

Using the BC Place Webcam link you can get a good view of the Georgia topping out and glazing approaching the roof.

Pics by me today - No new glazing on this side, but you can see new structures at the top for the fins.
Note sure what there are made of - doesn't look like steel - but probably are.

All told a slick looking tower. Don't know why this tower is getting a lot of flack for having spandrel panels - as if that's cause for concern in the broad scope of things...

Some people are perfectionists. I don't like the spandrels too much, because they detract a little from the overall sleekness of the building. But I'm not one of those people who take fits over them, either.

You're right, they are cheap and ugly in a way. But there's nothing we can do about it, so I guess it's better to focus on the more positive aspects of the building.

But I know how it is when something nice is ruined by an imperfection. Really disappointing. That's life

The north-west corner looks really sleek (right side in my photo from today below) - unfortunately, it's probably the corner with the least visibility.

Well not really, there should be some decent vantage points of it once the glass reaches full height. Walking out of the Burrard Skytrain station should provide a pretty good view of it, and that is the side seen from the Lionsgate and harbour views.

Yup. That side is really visible now from the plaza in front of Bentall 3 & 4. Looks really good from the sunken plaza and food court below B4

The corners I have a problem with are the north west and south east ones. Why couldn't they have gone for the same glass they use on the rest if the tower with the same dark blue spandrels?? The mullions look horrible and prevent those corners from looking sleek, the spandrel just looks cheap...

You're totally correct. Also, why did they use a different shade of blue for those spanrelled corners? It's "off." It doesn't line up with the darker blue used on the main glass façades

I never noticed the balcony extending across the gutter before (and DLeung's pic of the model on Page 62 shows balconies, not a protruding box).

Pics by me today (BTW the supports for the fins are gray steel):

This building is dope. Vancouver could use a couple more of them. How is it that they got this one right but had to go through so many of the same buildings before getting to this one

Cool, that's good to hear - I guess it's just the least visible to me since it's not on my walk home from work
