I also wish these festivals were used as a way to encourage urban rail. People at those festivals will absolutely use it. Most of those people are coming from more urban places than Austin that have excellent rail in place, and they're used to using it.

There also seemed to be more stars then there usually are. Maybe its cause I wasn't keeping up with it in past years but this year I saw many film openings like Paul and The Beaver. It also seems to be getting more recognition as the years go. I even saw Fader Fort headline the LA Times for their SXSW event.
If Austin keeps getting this hype growing year after year, I don't doubt that it will almost be a necessity to have urban rail. They should just propose it, approve it, plan it and build it already.
