I haven't been involved with this one, but I've worked on EIAs for transmissions lines before. The 'fact sheet' on their website is complete BS; nothing but selective quotations and half-truths.
Their real concern is with a percieved loss of land value (which I'm assuming was assessed by a third party and cameout to be negligable at most).
There are some legitimate environmental concerns with transmission lines, but they do them no favor with this garbage.
With members of the Liberal, NDP, Wildrose and Alberta Party all in one protest you know this is nothing more than exploiting an 'issue' for cheap points.
Lets see them complain about the deficit next after the line costs an extra billion to bury.

That is exactly it. They waive their flag for the votes, but aside from the NDP perhaps, would never sign off on the cheque for the necessary increased funds.
I got a underground tour of the LRT system tonight. It was pretty cool. Although it was all above board, the individual that made it happen asked me to keep his name out of it. It was a great look at Edmonton's underbelly. Just passing through by sahlgoode, on Flickr
The kid with the headphones in the first pic probably recieves as much or more EMF from cranking teh Beibs with those headphones next to his brain than he will recieve in any home that has proper setback (150-200m?) from the power line ROW.
And damn you sahlgoode, you're getting into all the good spots!
Sorry bulliver. I knew this was going to happen, but I didn't know when. As it turned out, I got a five minute warning. Would have been great to have you along.
