I wish they would interchange that 9th ave and pasqua intersection. So sick of the backed up traffic jam that goes all the way past the pedestrian bridge at rush hour. Going from 100 to 30 km is just asking for a massive pile up. Actually phoned into a newstalk 980 mayor hotline. That mayor said it was not necessary to interchange that intersection. 🞵🞵🞵!

Also I'm not liking that their changing the east west dewdney to a east south organic road at prince of whale. Why does city hall have a huge hatred for he square grid road pattern. What happed to the that saying, the quickest way between 2 points is a straight line. Like for residential roads I don't have a problem with the organic road style but everything else should be kept as straight and wide as possible. EG of a bad road, Quance street.

I totally agree with you. I've been up there a few times during peak traffic hours and it is just fustrating! It's weird that the mayor would say that about a possible interchange since the "Regina Road Network Plan" from 2007 indicated that a interchange was needed for that intersection.

Additionally, it says here that preliminary design is supposed to happen this year on the interchange.

They wouldn't be doing preliminary designs if an interchange wasn't "necessary". Something seems off that Fiacco outright excused the notion of an interchange even being needed there.

The reason they said it was not necessary is because they where going to do some intersection improvements. Lame

Ring & 9th Ave N was originally planned to be an interchange (eventually) all along and should have been done decades ago. I don't remember the year, but the last intersection improvements that were done, I believe they called it a “super-intersection”, were originally proposed to be an interchange. The city then decided that they just couldn't afford a proper interchange and settled on the super-intersection. At the time they said that the next progression would be an interchange in the future, but apparently now we are stuck with a second rate solution. Reminds me of the stadium debate today!

This reminds me that there used to be triangular municipal reserve parcels at each major intersection along 9th Ave N west of Pasqua St. Which would give enough area for interchanges at these locations. These were all sold-off a while ago - I think before Fiacco's reign - because these interchanges would never be needed – sigh, more short term gain ($$) for long term pain.

City is holding a meeting about extending some roads.

The public is invited to learn about a project to extend sections of the three streets below to better connect Albert Park and Harbour Landing and allow residents greater access to retail, parks and services.

1. Parliament Avenue (Lewvan Drive to Argyle Street)
2. Queen Street (Parliament Avenue to Laubach Avenue)
3. 28th Avenue (from Queen Street to Princess Street)

Staff from the City of Regina will share the information about the construction plan and upgrades at a public information session:

Not to happy about losing the garbage bins for roller carts. On top of that they wanted to move them from the alley to the street. Thats why we pay taxes for an alley.

I actually much prefer it this way. For one thing you don't have bins overflowing with garbage. Each household is responsible for its own garbage. There were (a lot of) times we would have to keep a bag of garbage in our garage until garbage day because the bin was so full. I thought it was a pain for the first couple of weeks, but now I prefer it. It takes some getting used to, but it's not a big deal at all.

So I pay taxes for an garbage bin and get a tiny roller cart that falls over all the time. Then I have to put it out front where there's no room for it with all the vehicles on the street. So I would have to put it in the middle of the street so that garbage truck can get close enough to pick it up. I live in the north where we don't have any problems with garbage bins being full. But I'm still supposed to accept this new way. Well that just happy dappy.

This should be fun to watch. It doesn't matter what they decide to do, garbage pickup is an issue that seemingly always leaves a significant portion of the poulation angry.

Lets hope its enough to kill this plan cold, speaking of cold I barley have enough space for my car on my drive way. Would that mean I would have to start clearing a path on my lawn to put this thing out.

I know what I can do. Just take a page from red green. Drive somewhere, open the passenger door and push the garbage out as well as the page and book it came from then drive away really fast. Yes this plan will work.


On unrelated topic, anyone know a clean park full of wild life and environmentalists. I ask only because I need to do some stuff tonight. Jogging, nothing else.

Also their going to charge $200 in taxes more for the roller cart. I think I'm going to have to give up eating food or something. Oh well, It would be a great way to loose weight I guess.

My roll out bin has never tipped over. Not once. My neighbor's tipped over once during a crazy windstorm, but it was empty. I would think the wind would have to be pretty unbelievable to tip over a full bin. The bin is not "tiny". With four people living in our house our bin is rarely even half full on garbage days. I don't know how narrow your driveway is that your car barely fits in it, but it's not going to kill you or your grass if you have to roll it over your lawn. That $200 will cover your garbage pickup while the current tax that you pay will be redirected toward a curbside recycling bin (so eventually you'll have two bins to cry about.) It is not $200 extra for garbage pickup.

I think the traffic lights would be at Lewvan and Parliament, not Lewvan and 25th!!There isn't actually going to be an intersection at Lewvan and 25th.

Yea I meant Parliament, 25th on the west side of Lewvan curves to join up with that intersection, or at least it did a few years back. Hopefully it will be dual turn lanes like Jim Cairns Drive, and Gordon. Also I hope the city does dual turn lanes and intersection improvements with restricted left turn lights at Regina Ave as well... That is a very dangerous corner, especially with the increase in traffic from the airport over the past few years. Although I will say Regina's airport is WAY better situated off a main road then Saskatoon's Airport is. What a joke it is to get in there.
