I wonder what the stats would be like if the Millennium were to connect to the Expo Line, even if just to Cambie?

The Millenium and Expo lines already connect at Commercial-Broadway. You're thinking of the Canada Line...

What segment of the #10 route is being cut when the rout is shortened?

It seems people are confused. Fortunately TransLink has put up the new trip-planning information on the website. =O

The route maps are below:

10 Marine Dr Stn / Downtown (via Granville)
14 UBC Loop / Kootenay Loop (via Broadway, Downtown, Hastings)
17 Marine Dr Stn / Downtown (via Oak)
C9 New West / Lougheed (via Columbia and North)

The new #14 route makes sense becase it restores the direct connecton from that part of Vancouver to UBC.

It should be just as frequent or more with the new set frequencies for Canada Line to Richmond as previously mentioned, does the same job of getting you from Brighouse to Bridgeport and would actually be faster at doing so. It even runs very late and very early - earlier & later than the Expo & Millenium Line. I think they had good basis to terminate the 480 south of there, it's actually fairly redundant with the many Richmond bus routes and the Canada Line serving the city really well... either people don't realize this or just hate having to make transfers so much.

Also the 407 is half-hourly off-peak

Canada Line goes on No. 3 Road, the 407/430/480 goes on Garden City. They are 800m apart. If you want to go to Richmond Centre, then there are lots of choices. But if you want to go to anywhere in between and not on No. 3 road, they you most likely have to wait for the hourly bus.

That applies to the segment south of Richmond Centre, which the 480 does not duplicate the route. I think the 407 only run hourly in the northern portion because the 480 was there. But now the 480 is gone, they should run the 407 every 30 minutes instead.

Unless you're talking about the evening.. it run half-hourly because the 430 and 480 isn't there. Now you sort of get this funny route that run every 30min at peak, hourly mid-day, and 30min at night...

is there a bus route that starts at cambie/broadway and goes to UBC? if not why not? that might take stress off the b-line

IIRC the #14 is an old old number that's been resurrected for this route-and the route itself is rooted in transit antiquity.

because that one starts at commercial drive which is already full by the time it gets to cambie - so why not have a bus that starts at cambie so its not full

One wonders given the logic of the current cuts trend if the 480 and 44 can be axed altogether and replaced with a simple 41-49 B-Line service + more UBC - Cambie service. =P That might cram up the trains too much though, so I guess that won't happen unless ProTrans is given the order to expand the platforms and trains.

In addition, TransLink needs to time its buses better. I see empty 49s on my route every morning at 7:00 for some reason. =S

It has been my experience in commuting from South Fraser St. to Kitslano everyday for work that the 99 dumps half it's load at cambie westbound allowing me to easily get on and even find a seat half the time. It is a massive transfer point for those going north/south or those who work around broadway.

The 99 may be full coming up to Cambie and full afterwards but it's not the same people.

My huge problem is still the 49, it's still a guaranteed passup during the daytime and unlike the 99, the next one ain't in 2 minutes

It used to be 14 Arbutus/16 Renfrew to 29th Ave Station. They were interlined but switched route numbers downtown.

According to the route diagram for the #15. as of April 18th the 15 & 50routes will link at Olympic village station. So there wil be downtown service on the Cambie Corridor.

That's a good move. You'll be able to get to Granville Island much easier. When walking out of Olympic Village you can get on the bus right infront of the station, no more crossing the street then riding the bus around in the wrong direction for a bit.

ok than how about a new bus that only serves the two stretch between broadway station on the canada line and commercial drive/broadway station...

the 99 b-line stays as is but now there is an extra bus to help handle the loads between that stretch

And run the bus on broadway? Not sure how many more buses you can jam in that area of broadway at least during peak periods.
