^ lol...

next week will be interesting. There has been word the Trade Deadline is important for the Coyotes deal as well, but I'm not 100% sold on it.

One thing is for sure: This upcoming week is going to be a very interesting one, to say the least...expect some COG/GWI mortal kombat.

No babalities

Since the Coyotes are still owned by the NHL, apparently they can only make trades with players of equal salaries.

Not sure how closely folks here follow this, but Upshall just got traded to a cold, northern small-market team.

The ironing is delicious. I can't WAIT to get home and devour the laughter on hfboards.

Nope!
But it does make you wonder about other potential disgruntled "Winnipeg Coyotes."

on the fan 590, McCown speculated 8% interest rate on bonds

this is significant because it is higher than what COG agreed to indirectly (related to the parking reports)

Most importantly, he said "very close to a deadline...matter of days"

me too...

While I will reserve my excitement for an official announcement or unofficial confirmation, I always thought it would be Thrashers.

I think Phoenix coming here works out best ultimately.

- No shady deal for Glendale taxpayers
- Original franchise back to Peg
- Fresh start in modern NHL era
- Atlanta gets to work out their issues rather than have team whisked away; poetic justice is served with Coyotes

My only personal question is how early could an announcement be made? If Bob McCown is to be believed, and he was spot on with the bonds failing, its a matter of DAYS. This indicates sometime this week.

I would assume TNSE would want to advertise as soon as they could. People on this board have connections with TNSE, I wonder if anyone could comment on whether TNSE would want to announce something ASAP, or hold it off for the sake of their Moose season

I actually think a more imminent announcement may boost Moose attendance because people will want to be first in line for ST's

Please guys be cautious not so cocky yet Glendale and the NHL have screwed us over so much over the years that nothing is a done deal until the press confrence confirms the jets are back.

Don't get ahead of yourselves guys, wouldn't surprise me (as McCown has said) that the NHL would buy the Glendale muni-bonds, Bettman's ego is at stake here.

it has its advantages.... its always cold because its been in the cooler longer.

there are no worries about the NHL, just surprised its the coyotes.....i really wanted a fresh start with the thrashers...look forward not backwards, but the coyotes are a better team right now.....bryzgalov will never come here so that could really hurt.

They have been selling Molson in NHL rinks for decades. I don't know if Labatt's has ever been sold @ Flames games not for the last decade at least anyways...next year Molson becomes the league sponsor, but it is still up to the individual teams/arenas what they sell.

I don't see the NHL buying these bonds what-so-ever. That was just pure speculation on McCown's part, not from any source or anything. Frankly, I'm surprised he even suggested such a thing...consider the implications with purchasing the bonds. The legal threat still doesn't go away. Will the owners want to invest in these bonds? How many owners will still be investors in the future? Will these bonds be degraded to junk if suit is filed?

Behind the scenes, something could happen very soon but we won't know for a few weeks at the very least. There have been rumblings that a deadline is today, but if there is, it is akin to the infamous December 31, 2010 deadline.

There is a ton of stuff yet that will have to happen involved in an official deal killed (the Coyotes are not dead yet...) and relocation transfer, etc...

The "matter of days" McCown reportedly was informed of, is all back-door stuff, unfortunately, but still an enticing thought nonetheless
