And for anyone interested...the demolition of the 17-story Roosevelt House across from Bobby Dodd Stadium is on Sunday Feb. 27, at 7am.
Which building is the Roosevelt house? Is it the housing built on the south side of North Avenue that was built in the 90's for the Olympics?

I actually read the majority of the proposal. From what I understand, the site proposed is best suited to hold the stadium primarily because it is a contiguous 28 acres (with a minimum of 25 required for a modern day football stadium) and because there minimal (in relative terms) other site work or right-of-way obstacles to overcome.

They also mentioned the fact walk times from existing tailgate spots and MARTA stations will be longer. There's a 37 page analysis on traffic flow, commute times to and from the stadium and parking, and availability of new parking lots that could be used among other things.

Nickiemoto's...

Is getting crushed right now. It looks like they are either gutting it or knocking it down.

Bam.

No, the building predates the Olympics by far and it may 35-40 years old or so. In my years at Tech I always remember seeing old people sitting outside during the day so I think it was senior living.

I found this photo in a current Atlanta thread in the City Photos section of the forum. As you can see this building has a significant effect on neighboring Bobby Dodd stadium.

It's a shame it's being demo'd. GT has been fucking up a lot of chances to improve density in my neighborhood.

This building was like a symbol of public housing and that's great that is going to be demolished, same is going to happen to Palmer House.
And I'm pretty sure they will build something new on this lot.

I thought it looked familiar ... I took that a couple years ago from our seats in the north endzone

I saw this on local news also but don't remember which channel. They mentioned it would would be replaced with mixed income housing. However, it's likely they don't really have a clue about what is happening

It'll be a parking lot.... I don't understand why they demo these buildings unless something is replacing it right after! If not then remodel it. We have so many gaps to fill in anyway, why make more.... ugh!

Why does everyone on here hate parking lots so much? I don't like them but I hate not being able to find a parking spot.
