You're probably right, just not yet.
Census commuting data from 2009 suggests we will have a Huntsville-Decatur-Albertville CSA when the official revisions are made in Summer 2013. A Huntsville-Decatur MSA will be very, very close.
I love how the
Times has already claimed victory and declared Huntsville as the second largest metro area in Alabama. Baldwin County, according to 2009 estimates, has now crossed the 25% commuting threshold to be included in the Mobile MSA. But like I said, the official designations won't be made for another couple of years.
